Is there information about these factions like there were in RTW when you chose your faction you could see what they're good at and what they're bad at?

Not that i know of.
There's now so much information 'out there' that a little 'Googling' will probably tell you what you are after. Find out something about the period, the tactics, the factions and you will probably enjoy the game a lot more too. In fact, if the intention of the Modder's (as I have always assumed) is to provide the best simulation they can - if you find out something about a particular faction (and it's accepted by many - including historians) and you can't do it in RSII - then let the Modder's know!
From my own experience(s) - and concentrating on Rome itself as the central faction (and the Mod's centre too) - and with a fair bit of period knowledge (also Rome-centric) - this Mod has provided the absolute best and overall realistic wargaming experience I've seen in recent times. It might be good to get all the factions to that level in the end - although some of them may need much lower expectations/victory conditions......

"RTW/RS VH campaign difficulty is bugged out (CA bug that never got fixed) and thus easier than Hard so play on that instead" - apple
RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.
I searched internet for factions and all I got was questions like "Which faction should I play", "Which faction is best" etc. sorry for multi posting but trying to get my message in but this says something about forbidden words![]()
Well...
Rome - Strong infantry, tough starting position, limited cavalry. You can also play as Capua as a swap faction.
Carthage - Good balance and elephants!
Gallaeci - Superb heavy infantry, limited in other areas.
Averni - Large variety of infantry, missing heavy cavalry.
Belgae - Varying infantry, chariots and light cavalry, plenty of expansion into the British isles.
Cimbri - Very cool infantry.
Boii - Wide variety of units, tough starting position.
Dacia - Some of the best infantry and good cavalry, difficult economy to manage
Macedon - Phalanx infantry and heavy cavalry
Greek City States - Most interesting start position, huge number of hoplite infantry and AOR units. Bear in mind the far reaching colonies can be playable alone as swap factions (Syracuse, Massalia and the Bosporus I think).
Sparta - Spartans, what else is there to say?
Ptolemaic Empire - A cool starting position with a balance of phalanx infantry, chariots and elephants!
Selucid Empire - Huge starting empire with a variety of infantry, cavalry, chariots and the best elephants to recruit.
Parthia - Some of the best heavy cavalry in the game, supported by horse archers and decent infantry in a good starting position.
Sarmatia - A huge variety of horse archers and other cavalry, minimal infantry support though.
Scythia - A slightly less varied selection of horse archers, but with better infantry support.
Armenia - Good roster of heavy cavalry and good infantry, but may be difficult to expand.
Pontus - Access to some of the best cataphracts, but a crowded starting position.
Pergamon - Good selection of hoplites and able to get cataphract heavy cavalry, but may have a tough time expanding. Bithynia and Galatia are available as swap factions I think.
(I think that's all of them?!)
Not exactly comprehensive I know but I hope this helps. Just pick a faction you think looks cool with a starting position you want to play and see what they're like. You'll have a great time regardless, and gain an understanding of how the other factions work.
Thanks this is what I'm looking for.
