Default Siege Equiptment on Battle Map?

Is there a fix for this at all?

This is the second time it's happened and in the middle of a critical battle! My best general is fighting Carthage for southern Spain. I'm outnumbered. Carthage brought two armies against his legion. I'm looking forward to this battle. And then, it's a night battle. It's beautiful and I'm thinking this is going to be so much fun. I arrange my armies, taking care to get it just right, and then I click start and . . . eggghhhh!

My FPS drops to 1 or 2 FPS because there's one damned scorpion in Carthage's army. One! So I get auto-resolve another battle - and I'm not certain the AI is going to let me win. Before I throw away half my army and my general, I just thought I'd ask - can this be fixed?

Is your game lagging when this happens? It could be your graphic settings, so that's why I think it's not the mod. I don't have any problems. My game runs so smooth even on high settings and over 12.000 man on the battlefield. Graphic stays clear and the contrast is so strong that my eyes often hurt because that.

Nope. That isn't it. It's the known bug where a piece of siege equipment gets caught off map behind a group of trees. Because the AI has no way to get the siege equipment past the trees, it "freaks out" and your frame rate drops. I've verified this has something to do with the new battle maps. No other battles are effected.

If it's me and my army, I can control where I put stacks so this doesn't happen. But when the AI includes a piece of siege equipment in its stack, and then attacks me during it's turn, I only have so much control where and how this is going to happen. If it happens, then all I can do is auto-resolve (see below). Errgghh.

After playing around with it a bit, I've found a solution: (1) Never move your armies the full movement per turn (so that they're trapped) - so always save some maneuver room, (2) save before the end of every turn, and (3) if it happens, then try to maneuver to a different location so that you can fight the battle on a different "map."

But you can't do that if you're sieging a city and the army charges out of the city. You're stuck where you are.

Okay. Sometimes that happens in some battles that the AI can't move it's siege units into the battlefield because of the trees. But the game is still going on perfectly and I simply can fight the battle in my game. There is nothing that makes trouble like you described. So I don't know.

Yes, there is. Here's an entire thread about it. I'm not imagining things ...

Still I don't have any problems like that. Never encountered such a thing. I can fight those battles easily. I have seen in some cases the siege unit of the enemy doesn't even appeared on the battlemap. All other units entered the battlefield, but their siege unit wasn't there. The entire armies were there, but it seems they left them. After the battles almost every single unit was destroyed, only a few survived with that siege unit and turned the big army into a very small stack.
