Default Why is Jerusalem a Northern European city ?

Hey guys, everything is in the title. It just breaks the atmosphere IMHO.
Is it possible to create a new culture for the Crusader States ? Something like Middle Eastern architecture but keeping the European portraits and voices. Because I tried to make them this way, but the portraits and voices were Middle Eastern which breaks the atmosphere too.

Well, the Crusader States are modeled after the French and use pretty much the same names and voices as them so that explains why they are Northern Europeon.

I don't think you can just create a new culture for them unfortunately. I think that it is something that is hardcoded into the M2TW engine.

Jerusalem specifically looks the same in all sieges, like a middle eastern city. You can make them have middle eastern culture, but that wouldn't make sense as they probably did not build anything like the arabs did.

Nope, you can change the culture, but I do not know where and what would be the consequences of it.

Of course there are the buildings which were already built which would've Arab and maybe southeastern European . Maybe the initial buildings should be middle eastern but most of the Large and Huge city building should be Northern European....as for the culture and voices eh the French accent is good enough

Jerusalem was conquered by north-western Europeans. It changed hands back and forth during the crusades, but the "Crusader States" was a short lived nation made up mostly of western European crusaders (primarily French-ish) with a good number of German, Italian, Spanish and English thrown in.

Well thanks guys but I already knew these things ;-) my question was regarding Jerusalem as a North European settlement in 1100 (less than 1 year after the Seljuks lost it)

Romy (a horrific Belgian pilsner) has a good point, I think. Can the campaign map Jerusalem not look like a Middle Eastern city at the beginning of the campaign, until it's upgraded?

Sir, I would kindly suggest that you were to withdraw this comment, as there is no such things as a 'bad Belgian pilsner' (perhaps with the notable exception of Maes lemon, which mostly isn't considered beer at all), as that this situation does not escalate beyond proportion *takes off glove*

I agree that, according to history, it would be too early to show Jerusalem as a crusader castle. But I do not believe that a faction can start a campaign with cities that do not resemble their culture.
Crusader castles look like Nothern european castle.

The description Last of the Romans (Ultimus Romanorum) has historically been given to any man thought to embody the values of Ancient Roman civilization —values which, by implication, became extinct on his death. It has been used to describe a number of individuals.
Flavius Belisarius (505?–565), one of the greatest generals of the Byzantine Empire and one of the most acclaimed generals in history. He was also the only Byzantine general to be granted a Roman Triumph.

I think there was one file which has all the starting date of all the cities in it, if you change the wall and tower type to middle eastern, maybe it would change the way it appears on the strat map.

You can have custom stratmap models for settlements, that is one possible fix.
