Default Less Recruitable Units in Late Era Campaign?

    Hi,

First off, great mod. Stainless Steel is my favourite overhaul mod for Medieval 2; I've tried quite a few over the years and SS is the one I ended up sticking with most often.

Now, on to the question at hand; I typically play Early Era campaign but I decided to give Late Era a shot because it adds some new factions and makes some interesting map changes that aren't present in the Early campaign. I'm wondering now, however, if we're limited to only recruiting Late Era units if on a Late Era Campaign?

Playing as France I'm sitting with two Fortresses fully upgraded with the highest quality Barracks, and all they're giving me are Peasants, Spear Militia and Voulgiers. I can't even train chainmail foot Knights let alone Feudal Knights that Fortresses usually grant. In fact the entire campaign so far has consisted mostly of various spear militias clashing despite the fact that the Gun Powder event has already occurred.

I'm also wondering, and I'm not sure if this is its own question or if it's related to the above, but my Templar's Minor House in one of my Fortresses only grants mounted Templars, but I know SS has a dismounted version. I thought Minor houses normally grant the dismounted version, I'm not sure if I'm remembering wrong or if it's because I'm in a Late Era campaign.

    Thanks.

I wonder if your campaign is bugged because in the late era campaign I am always able to train feudal knights. Are you sure that you have built the correct stables for the knights as that may be a part of the requirement. Also, you need to know that some units become obsolete according to the game and you will not be able to recruit them anymore beyond certain years. Check the link below. It should tell you approximately which years new units will come and go.

Now as for the Dismounted Templar Knights, they require a Citadel for you to be able to build them or a Huge City. Its stated on the same link.

I checked around with my settings, issue seems to be that I had Real Recruitment disabled without realizing it. Turning RR back on solved the issue (sadly not save-game compatible so I'm restarting my campaign, oh well).

Also thanks for the link, I keep forgetting about that site.

Have you chosen BGR4 when choosing sub mod options?

Do you play on Early campaign?Do you have Real Recruitment enabled?
If your answer is yes for both, then you will be stuck with spearmen for about first 100 (or maybe less) turns.
