Default Prologue just about the Samnites?

I thought I read somewhere that the prologue consisted of three part and considering the prologue trailer is also showing epirote troops I still have hopes on a prologue with a little bit bigger scope.

I hope that the prologue played by the journalists is actually the second part of the prologue. I hope the first part is a (very small) prologue where you have to beat a few Gauls and Etruscan invaders, then the second part can be the part shown in the recent previews where you beat the samnites and in the final part of the prologue you have to survive the onslaught of Phyrhus and finally conquor the greek cities in southern italy.

    Thoughts?

I understand it is about Samnite Wars only, and to me, this is fine for a tutorial/prologue.
    I might be wrong, however.

The map only showed Etruscan territory and Samnite. So that is probably the limit. Like your idea though. I wonder if after completing the tutorial you can use your tutorial game to go straight into the main game, I.e use your save file.

I don't really want a very long prologue, it's fine if it's only against the Samnites. I'll play it just to learn some of the new features, then I'm off to costum battles to check out the units and to the campaign proper.

Prologue is more like training session, what I rarely play if I want learn something new. Main campaign is place, where we will fight against all.

It should only take 3 hours to do the prologue, so yeah just about the Samnite wars which is fine by me.

I usually just skip straight to Grand Campaign. Would rather they polish that than add two more parts to the prologue.

I heard on one of the videos (or maybe a review) that the first thing to do with the prologue is a battle, which you control a small Roman force in support of a larger force. From there you then get to the campaign map.

Perhaps my statement was a little bit confusing. My point is not so much that I necessarely want the prologue to be bigger. I'm just thinking that if CA also included the invasion of Phyrus that would make a much more logical end point for the prologue then the conquest of the samnites because:

    - The prologue ends with the beginning situation of the campaing (phyrus driven out of italy and the greek cities conquored)
    - The phyrric wars and phyrus are much better known.
    - The phyrric battles would make for a great climatic ending of the prologue including elephants.
    - In the voice of total war trailer we can clearly see hellenistic Epirote soldiers marching, no Samnites.

Its just a tutorial its meant to teach you how to play the game its purpose is not to be a short camping.

I have nothing against the tutorial being what it is, but I just think they missed a good opportunity to do something more far-fetched. It could have been a tutorial set during the Hellenic period or something. Meh, let's hope they make it up with expansion(S)

CA did say the prologue will have 4 chapters. Based on that i can think it will go like this.

    1. The Samnite Wars. The early republic is facing their first powerful enemy. Rome's survival relies on winning this war.
    2. The Rise of Rome. After taking Samnium, the rest of southern Italy is up for grabs. Most likely the enemies on this campaign will be Bruttium and Tarentum.
    3. The Phyrric Wars. Rome's expansion towards Magna Graecia has not been ignored. The Greek Colonies on Italy, fearing further roman expansion have asked for help to Phyrrus, King of Epirus. Phyrrus is bringing a poweful army, the likes Rome has never seen. This battle will most likely have you finally deal with different type of units and different tactics.
    4. Battle of Beneventum. The final showdown between Rome and Epirus, use all the knowledge you have learned through the Prologue and drive Phyrrus and his army from Italy!

I HOPE the prologue is about the Samnites, at least then it would be interesting. I don't want to play a prologue about Rome, one of the first and major factions I would play.
Eh? Why would they make a prologue during the Hellenic period? The main gameplay doesn't occur then. It's like playing a CoD game and having a prologue set during the Wild West.
