Default What's the possibility of an Alexander espansion?

I almost crap my pants when I saw the Hannibal trailer (my favourite general in history, along with Alexander), great that he's gonna be in the game!

But what about Alexander, died long time before the start date of the game, so I think we can expect he won't be in the main game, but maybe in an expansion?

And another doubt that I have, what about great generals in history that were born after the starting date of the game, like Caesar. Will he born on the 100 bc on the campaign, or will heonly be available on historical battles or mini-campaigns?

Hopefully they'll remake all their DLCs. Alexander and Barbarian Invasion included. Except 100x better

There seems like there will definitely be an Alexander campaign added on as an expansion. It was fun in the original Rome, and considering now the additions that make generals and armies more unique to the player's choices while leveling them, it only makes sense that Alexander's campaign should be added.

As for other generals, if Hannibal is in the game, he's not from the start. He'll pop up some-time mid game. Same as Caesar, who we've seen is in the game at least come ~50 BC. We also saw Marcus Junius Brutus.

I'm hoping for an expansion that covers all of Greece from the Greco-Persian Wars thru the Peloponnesian War and Alexander's conquests basically right up to where Rome II begins.

    It's secondary to Barbarian Invasion.

I agree I want to see the late Roman Army and the barbarians. Still I would like to an Alexander campaign or the Greco-Persian wars.

there will be one, the map is there units are there, they only need to change names here and there, lengthen spears length then strap "ALEXANDROS" name on the armies - easy $10!

rise of muslim, protrays Rome's forever lost of middle east and african sounds more reasonable to me since all other important periods have been covered before, though again I doubt CA or SEGA will ever be bold enough to do that

I am all for having an Alexandrian expansion set or DLC.

That's very interesting but corresponds more to a medieval setting than to one based in Antiquity, and I don't see why CA isn't "bold" enough for it...

CA created a stand-alone game for Napoleon.

So i wouldn't be surprised if the release a stand-alone Alexander game a year before the release of the next major Total War game.

No total war game should focus on just one person or one event. thats boring and too limiting. Hence why I never had any interest in the alexander and napoleon games of total war.

To me the series is more about changing history than trying to copy the footsteps of a specific person.

Same here. Although I'm very interested in Alexander as a historical person, replaying his wars would be restricting and boring. Never bought Alexander or Napoleon TW, too. I would like a Bronze Age stand alone, but I fear it will be boring BI.

Bronze Age, Total War? I could see that being 'Assyria: Total War'

Actually, that'd be pretty cool. We could see the ancient civilizations duking it out in all their glory - Babylon, Assyria, the Hittites, Ancient Egypt (and not the cartoon Egypt from Rome 1).

Anyways, I agree that the expansions devoted around a single military general have been less compelling. The narrative in the Napoleon campaign was good, but it's hard to get into unless you're actually interested in Napoleon or his conquests. Expansions that devoted themselves to a single major event or theater have been more fun, IMO, since you can pick from a variety of factions and change history - one of the big draws of the TW games in general.

I could see the 'Fall of Rome' being an expansion, the same way the 'Fall of the Samurai' marked a fitting final expansion for Shogun 2. But it would basically mimic the Barbarian expansion from Rome 1. There are probably other good time periods to choose from, particularly during those periods in which the Empire was splintered between warring factions.

The 'Rise of Islam' is actually a decent idea, but it'd be so far ahead in the timeline that I'm not sure it'd fit the Rome 2 game engine or assets.

Alexaner was boring game. I prefer Barbarian Invasion. defending West and East Rome against Barbarians would be far better experience than Alexander.

I think if they push the time back a little with the rise of Macedon and Philips II as king it will be more interesting. Alexander DLC can be Great but start at the crisis time of Macedon is even more challenging. They can still throw in a script that Alexander was borned at a certain year so we will have the King/general Alexander if we want

Think about it all the Philips II campaign Illyrian, the interven at Tyrant of Pherae in war with Thessaly, The Sacred war, Scythian war, Thracian campaign, The war with Thebes and Athens and finally we can march for Persia(which was originally Philips II plan)

I would like it though I think the chance is low since they seem to want to tread new ground with expansions: i.e. after Medieval 2 they made Kingdoms instead of Viking Invasion like Med1 and in S2 they made expansions on the rise and fall of the samurai instead of on the Mongol Invasions, so I would assume the expansions will be different in Rome 2 to Rome1

That said, I can see a character driven game made independently of R2 about Alexander on the model of NTW: derivative of empire but big enough to be a game in its own right

Youre right, im affraid they will not make an Alexander expansion because it was already in rome 1.

But a independent game like napoleon would be totally awesome!
