I have been playing Skyrim (and fallout 3) past weeks (with wine), you have many linux games on steam now (many from Total war, like Rome II, Attila or Shogun 2). Also in steam they are working in a system (testing now, available) with which wine will be used from its platform, so you can play windows games on steam on linux.
