Default Windows 8 User: Problem with Battle Graphics

So I got a new computer with Windows 8, but it seems to run Medieval Total War just fine. When I installed the Third Age mod everything seems to work, except when I play battles the bottom third of my screen is a mostly blank white space with perhaps a couple messed up unit icon graphics. I'm also a steam user. I tried it with the newest patch and without it, so I don't think it could have been caused by making an error manually moving the patch files.

Does anyone know what this might be related to? My Graphics card isn't anything to brag about, but again, the regular game works ok, and I can even play battles with the unit combat animations running smoothly without any problems. It's just I see that white screen instead of my unit info panel.

Open your medieval2.preference.CFG file located in your main steam/.../ common/Medieval II Total War folder ( right mouse click on the file and EDIT ) then copy whole text and paste it into your post so we can see is something edited in it.

Also, open TATW.CFG file located in your steam/.../ common/Medieval II Total War/ mods/ FOLDER where Third Age is installed, ( right mouse click on the file and EDIT ) then copy whole text and paste it into your post so we can see is something edited in this one too.
American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..
Sons of *******, leave that poor, war torn country in peace.
If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.

A video of false chemical attack in Douma, Syria, which led to Western illegal attacks.
