Default Faction difficulty list and some Questions

    Hey All!
THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT MOD GUYS!
i searched the forum but i didn't find my answer!
if there's a similar thread or something tell me so i know too!
i'm pretty noob to this mod!(not to tw though!)
i played my first campaign as macedon on m/m ROMETW.exe 0turn and it wasn't that hard! what difficulty do you recommend!? i play Total War on VH/VH...
can you give me a ranking or something to show the factions from easiest to hardest for me to play on!?
what's the difference between the EXE s!? do they have any difference at all!?!? which one do you recommend!?

the battles took too much time and sometimes crashed that it was pain in arse for me to fight them again! any solution!?
i don't want to lower the unit size but i have to because of the long battles and crashes...
long battles aren't the main problem but the crashes are! my PC is good and i can play shogun2 on high with over 40fps! but i heard that rome engine is old and doesn't support multicore processing so it's laggy!
so i lowered the graphics a bit i mean everything is on ULTRA_HIGH and vegetation model is on LOW(THE YES NO CANCEL ONE I MEAN) and vegetation and unit details on NORMAL and i use high detailed unit models. the unit size was on 160 but i want to change it to 120 which is between 80 and 160! will i have any problem if i use custom unit sizes!?
    why the game has 2rebels!?
    swap factions!? what are they!?
what does AUC and S.E stand for!? do the game only has these 2 dates or more?
how the reforms happen? i wanted to recruit Agema Elite Phalangites and other Elite units of macedon but i couldn't does it have anything to do with the reforms!?

sorry for the question storm but i asked all of them here!

AGAIN THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT MOD GUYS!?

    BYE

EDIT: why all my ships have admiral and i can't merge the main ships!?

EDIT2 : can you explain a bit about AI and Player formations and MODESTY!? (Other RSII Parameters)

EDIT3: WILL THERE BE ANY UPDATES/PATCHES!? I MEAN 2.5 IS THE LAST VERSION OR WILL THERE BE 2.6 2.7 3.0 ...!?
if yes what's the next patch and when it's going to be released!?

hi welcome to this great mod, i play it over 2 years now i think.here are some things i can help you with
    1. always run the script,it helps to have les craches(click on settlement, than on the advisor)
    2. best to play on h/h its balanced for that.1turn is more of a challenge.i use 0turn(i like lots of battles) vh is bugged they say
    3. best EXE to use is alex, you get more sea invasions and works best for phalanx armys, i use BI EXE(have no alex) spearmen units can do shieldwall
    4. AUC means Ab Urbe Condita/date rome was founded. S.E i dunno, yhink their ar just 2 dates yes
    5. for your elite troops you need the highest rank of barracks, supply of army rations and metal import facilety
    6. the ships cant merge in 2.5 its bugged
    7. 2.6 is at our doorstep,so yea there will be a new version that is more balanced and more bug free
maybe a team member can help you out with other questions.have fun

Ships are not bugged. This has to do with the traits of the admirals. It's simple, a commanding admiral won't give up his ship and his fleet. That's why merging doesn't work. And as always, veeery simple solution. Just build up an entire fleet instead of several mini-fleets. But in the 2.6 version this gets also fixed... Oh god, still so much time... Ah, that thing in me is ransacking my guts...

    thanks for the Answers...

i know and i activate the script everytime i load the game...
you mean if i'm playing a phalanx faction i should use alex and when i'm playing barabiarn BI right?!
i wanna play parthia as next what EXE do you suggest!?

ok i will play on H/H cause i don't like that much of challenge! just want the game to be balanced you know! not too easy and not too hard!

BTW DUDE YOU SAVED ME! I FINALLY CAN BUILD ELITE TROOPS! SO SUPPLY OF ARMY RATIONS IS THE GATE TO ELITE BARRACKSES RIGHT!?

and can somebody explain a littlebit about the player and AI formations and MODESTY!?(the ones on other rsII parameters)

    ...STILL NO RANKINGS!
+rep for everyone who gives me the ranking...
or atleast his experience with the faction he played...

    thanks.

Is it still true, that the script only starts the first time you load something after starting the game so that you have to restart the game if you want to reload?

Play with alex, enabling modesty would make the naked units in the game wear clothes. Formations are just that, different people created different formations. They will effect how the AI (and you) sets up its army on the battlefield.

Ranking factions based on difficulty is a little hard. For me easiest are Rome, Macedon, Pergamon, Sparta, and Carthage. Hardest would be Seulucids, Ptolemy, and perhaps Dacia. That is all in my opinion, but I'm sure that others feel differently.

If you want to load a game while on the campaign map, hit escape and click the question mark in the upper right hand corner. Then load the save you want and enable the script again.

Sparta is definitely the easiest faction in my opinion.

The Romans have a hard time at the start, so they are tough to start with. I think the Boii have a poor starting location. Carthage have a good starting position, just use Hannibal to conquer either spain or sicily. Its all a matter of opinion really, and depends on what troops you like to use.

    thanks for the help.
everytime i load the save (quickload CTRL+L) i must disable the script and enable it again!?
i don't do that only the first time i run the game and when i load the advisor comes and goes back quicky and i always thought that's the script activation notification...

I would recommend not using quick load or quick save. Use manual saves and loads. Every time you load the game, click a settlement, click the advisor portrait that comes up. That's all you need to do. If you load another save, you have to click the settlement and advisor again.

Modesty just covers up Naked Fanatics/Naked Spearmen etc so you can't see their lil' rendered willies. It's up to you if you have it enabled in preferences or not. There are a few other parameters like that, just little tweaks to affect the game, but usually just aesthetically. Swap factions take one faction out of the game and replace it with another one. You can swap the factions of The Bosporan Kingdom, Massalia, Syracuse, Bithynia, Galatia and I think a few others into the game to play as.

why not recommending the QL and QS!? what's the problem with that!? it's so hard to save and load manually everytime
I always QS and QL nad use manual save when i go into an important battle or when i finish playing...

The non-recommendation is because the 'quick' systems seem to use the same features as 'autosave' and this has long been believed to cause problems, let alone become, apparently, easily corrupted.

My best advice - always start from the Launcher for every game or re-load. Do it 'manually' and make sure the script activates as the very first thing you do when the map appears. Manually save before every Battle and before every End Turn (use the same files and over-write) and, I suggest, keep a save every 5 years in case you need to go back.

It really doesn't take long - and you can then play happily for hours at a time.
"RTW/RS VH campaign difficulty is bugged out (CA bug that never got fixed) and thus easier than Hard so play on that instead" - apple

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

Yes, check your money. When you got 1 Denarii added to your treasury then the script is activated. The only thing to remember is, everytime when you load your save, before you start any battle or actions, click on any of your settlements first. That's how you activate the script. So easy.

Romans position sucks at the start, its impossible to defeat the Carhagian army at the start, then the rebelion and half my allies betrayed me..
Boii are my favourite, they have a somewhat fine starting position and i conquered entire middle europe with them...ah yes i forgot i use cheats

Once you defeat Carthage and the rebellion, the world is your oyster. Rome is not bad at all.

roman starting position is challenging, but also very optional.
my first move is: i move my diplomat to the greek cities and change dyrrachium for massilia. this saves my alliance, free up my greek army (later peace with macedons), a good garrison in massilia and give me a solid landmass in Italy and southern france. later i can push in to spain or france - or both
