Default EYE: Line of Sight Icon

Just want to ask, what is the use of the eye?

You can already know that you are being seen by the enemy if the icons(eyes) dissapear.

How about in ambush normal land battles where there are trees? It will notify you immediately that there are enemies nearby watching you.... The eye will disappear if enemy can see you(vise versa)... right?

Aside from that, in real life, you dont know if someone is watching you from afar...

I like it that i can see the enemy's movements without their awareness...

Scouts will become useless in a way that icons(EYE) tells the enemy that they have been spotted by your scouts (vice versa)...

If you place some scout on the hill and you can see the enemy army, they will become aware and alert because they will know that you already spotted their army because of the eye ...

It will tell you if you are being seen by enemy,.. Although they cant see you, they will know that you are nearby and watching them...

Aside from that, if you are walking in forest, the eye will disappear, uh-oh, someone is nearby and can see us... "MEN, RETREAT"

I really dont understand the use of the eye?

That big ass intrusive eye you'll be seeing plastered all over your screen has 1 purpose in that it lets you know the enemy can not see the specified unit that has that big ass intrusive eye plastered on your screen over it's banner. It's purely a visual representation to help out CA's target audience.

Surely though this can be hidden via higher difficultly level.

Oh and if the enemy we're to become aware they've been spotted, doesn't mean the scout becomes useless. Unless of course you'd rather not know where their units are.

I hate this stupid eye.Infact i hate the whole stupid UI as well.I guess people are too dumb and need huge eyes plastered all over the screen or something.Huge eyes, Golden SFX on enemy troops when de buffed its looking like the biggest arcade crap CA have ever produced.

That is also one of my point... Sometimes i let my enemy go behind my back thinking that i didnt see him moving around... By the time he attacked from behind, he would be surprised that im aware that he has units behind my back... But now, you cant disguise anymore because he becomes aware whether you see him or not....

Aside from that, he will doubt whether i see him or not, but now, there's an indicator that i can see him… so he will be more cautious...

I actually like that feature , it adds realism , but its not well implemented.

It's not that once you spotted the enemy if he runs behind a hill u imediately don't know where it is anymore .. you still can hear the movements, the clinging of armors , the voices etc ... u more or less should be able to individuate them still unless they enter a kind of silent mode ...

Well maybe you can hear the sound through the fog of war but not see the unit - like in CoH

Prom you are right in general terms but I think it's gonna be a good comprimese between gameplay and realism. I personally like the idea to have to scout costantly instead of picking all of your units and make them charge forward

I was looking for something like that since the first Shogun...

Well I like it too and I agree , personally I would make the Unit stay a little ghosted for a couple more seconds after it disappears from view to simulate the "guessing of the position" by the noise .

the noise woudl also be important , but surely I am already glad that that new feature is in ....

at least something I am not complaining of .

I love the new LoS feature. They implemented it, apparently, well and thought out. But I dont like the eye icon. Looks too intrusive as many other visual effects in battle, such as the chevrons that appear when a unit levels up, or the glow over units banners when they use a special ability. I think its breaking the immersion.

I absolutely love this feature, I think it adds a tremendous amount of gameplay to the battles. The eye indeed is pretty big and not very nice to have in your screen but I have a feeling it is necessary for less experienced or more casual players.

The implementation of line of sight in the minimap is very well done, it makes it easy to see which areas of the map are hidden and allows you to make a good choice about where to go scouting for hidden enemy troops.

This and naval battles are two excellent steps forward for me.

However the eyes, and possibly some more battle effects (chevrons, sparkles with abilities) need a toggleable option.

I hope i can toggle this off... It looks arcade...

So if your enemy is watching you, the eyes will disappear? It tells that you are being seen... Thats not realistic...

    Ambushes can become useless...

I say we go more realistic and control only the general, view the battle only through his camera and issue orders through riders and flags.

Really people. How else would you know your unit is visible, when you are a God flying over the battlefield and issuing telepathic orders? Zoom constantly in every out-of-sight unit and look around to see if you cna see the enemy?

And in ambushes they can (and probably have) designed the "eye" so that it doesn't disappear if a hidden enemy unit is watching you through the trees.

Then, what is the use of those eyes?

The eyes indicate you are hidden from enemy view.

However, in an ambush battle, I'm sure all your units will have the eye above them. Reason being, it's an ambush battle. ;P it gives a sense of mystery and anticipation for an attack, which can be anywhere.

But in the Teutoburg forest battle, there was no eye above the units. Sooo........it was either not implemented at the time, or the eye won't be visible in ambush battles.

Yep definitely "Arcade," The whole game is basically arcade, it saddens me.

Arcadey? And what, the fact that you had full view of the entire battlefields in past Total Wars is not?

I am sure it will be toggleable. it might possibly be that this is just in for the tutorial and then you have the option to turn it off in the main campaign.
