Poor Al.

The game looks great both in the visual sense and in the gameplay, but honestly poor dear Al evidently have no idea how to play a TW battle.![]()
I've never played Rome 2 and I know I could have won that without even trying![]()
All he had to do was line those Hastatii in a long line and in defensive mode. Then use that large amount of cavalry to protect the flanks while the missile troops harass the enemies that are engaged. Al seriously messed that one up.
The game just looked amazing though! Loved the lighting on the lightening
It just felt very atmospheric. Can't wait!![]()
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

First look at the Line of Sight (LoS) mechanic.
I personally loved it. Adds a lever of unpredictability to battles. This is where you can start talking about "realism" as it adds a layer we've never had before.
And to win that battle I'd simply have my Hastati in a line, cover one flank with the roman camp and the other with the hillside, then pilla and stone the enemy to death before launching the cavalry. Al was all over the place and seemingly had no control. The AI was good though, going after his general like that.
Also the pillum throwing animation is great.

You know, this looks pretty cool, you know. There is speech therapy Mr. Studio Communications Manager. You know?
.
Guessing they are still going to work on the water and coastlines before release as it looks considerably worse than S2 IMO. Too bad the BAI again seem to repeat the same vanilla release problems as usual, but no surprise there I guess. Overall though it looks amazing and can't wait for the release and what the modding community will do with this title.
Surprised this is not getting more attention, easily the most detailed preview today![]()
It's definitely the most comprehensive of the stuff we've had out of the Rome event. The Gamespot one covers the same content, but falls flat due to a not so good interview during the campaign walkthrough.
That new LOS system is so tasty. I was worried about how the units would 'pop in' or out, but the ghost in and out effect works brilliantly. Cresting that hill only to run into a line of skirmishers was great. It now seems light cavalry and other fast units will now be vital to scouting and securing vantage points to oversee the field. I can't wait to see how sieges are affected with lots of tightly packed streets!![]()
Honestly, I'm shocked too lol. And I'm pretty sure it was not posted anywhere else

I think the A.I showed promise considering it had a very weak force with 2 mob units. It scouted ahead which shows its understands the new LOS system too.
