EDIT: bad post. Nevermind.
This is an English forum, so if you're here you should have basic English skills. It doesn't need to be perfect, and I don't think anyone expects it to be perfect. Also, the winner is decided by the general membership via poll, not by any specialist panel of judges.

Intel i5 3570K (4.2Ghz @ 1.215v); ASUS Z87 Gryphon; 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro; GTX 780; Corsair AX760i; Noctua NH-U12S; Samsung 840 Pro 256GB; WD Black 1TB; Windows 7
As Stealth said, anyone can enter, and anyone can win. The winner of the grand prize will be decided by their peers on this forum.
There is nothing stopping anyone from entering at all.
Things I trust more than American conservatives:
Drinks from Bill Cosby, Flint Michigan tap water, Plane rides from Al Qaeda, Anything on the menu at Chipotle, Medical procedures from Mengele
I'm a little concerned about the timeline of the contest.
If someone enters hoping to win a copy of the game, the judging appears to start on September the 1st. Even if it only takes you one day to conclude the judging (and I'm sure it won't), the game will have already launched before the contestants know if they've won or not. This means that anyone hoping to win the game in the contest, but who fails to do so, will miss out on their pre-order bonus.
Obviously if you're intent on getting the pre-order bonus, there's little reason to enter the contest anyways, unless you just want an extra copy to gift a friend. This will discourage people from entering (me included) in the first place, on top of the fact that by trying to win and failing, I'll miss out on the bonus as well and be stuck buying the game, and paying $5 for the factions I really want.
Would recommend you shave a week off the contest time. Three weeks is plenty to write 1,000 words.
Yeah, I do realize the complications with that. So, if you're set on pre-ordering it and getting the free DLC, then this might not be for you. However, I am sure there are still many, many members here are willing to wait a bit for a chance at a free copy.![]()
Unfortunately, it would be very hard to condense the time to get a winner before release. After submission period is over there are two round of voting. So, all of that takes time. Right now our current time frame is looks like this:
August 1 - August 31 - Open for submissions
September 1 - September 15 - First round of voting
September 16 - September 23 - Final round of voting
So, we could have a winner by September 24 pending no unforeseen circumstances such as cheating or ties.
All categories (themed, long, and short) are eligible to win the grand prize. The way it works is that there will be two round of voting. The first round will be the individual categories. Then after that the first place winners from themed, long, and short move on to a final round of voting. Then the first place entry with the most votes in the final round is the grand prize winner. I hope that makes sense.![]()

Do you mean for our giveaway? Yes, I'm pretty sure it's already been bought or "Pre-ordered." So, yes, the winner will get the Greek States DLC. Was Revan hitting on that too? I might have missed it.
Hope this is the day my Creative Writing Course pays off!
So, to be clear, we're allowed one entry in all three of the mini-categories categories, and the one category must be related to the Total war Guide theme?
I'm somewhat confused by the theme idea. One category is the Guide, and the other two can be whatever you want?
Sorry if it's a stupid question.
EDIT- On my re-read I realized what you meant with the categories. My bad.

Yeah, that's part of what I meant.
Even if I were to win, it sounds like I'd still have to purchase the Greek States DLC. But you're saying that you're pretty sure the winner gets Sparta, Athens, and Epirus for free as well?
Yep, that's exactly right. You may enter each category. The themed category is strictly Total War Guides and the other categories can be anything.
Any and all are free to enter.Except for the librarians who are administering the competition.
Yes, I'm pretty sure the winner will get the DLC. I've just sent off a PM to verify and will post here with confirmation as soon as I know.
Thanks for hosting these competitions, TWC staff. It really breathes life into the community, and I really, really hope I win. Been writing for the past few hours now.
