Take a look at the recent gameplay demos where they show the prologue, and Al demonstrates Line of Sight. Al sends his skirmishers out to find the Samnites, and they appear to be doing the same.

It's an interesting concept. It certainly adds some tactical opportunities, but I kind of worry that it'll just become a formality - send a cavalry unit onto the hill to see the enemy, then the gameplay will be 99% the same as it's always been. Also, the eyes hovering over your units to show if they're unseen are way too big and distracting, and need to be reworked I think.
Edit: Skip to 13:20 to really get to what you're looking for.

That triviality adds a lot to the battle in my opinion. There's a big difference between keeping your army as it is, and needing to constantly have some light cavalry scout around to make sure nothing's going on. I think the latter sounds infinitely more engaging. And I will personally try to maximise use out of this new Line of Sight feature. I will try to actively hide small flanking or surprise forces much more often now and make use of the land much more than before. This is one of those things I've always wanted in TW and I'm very glad it's finally here.

I personally love it, cant wait to test it for myself.
I was already hoping they would add the feature. When I saw it in the videos earlier today I was happy to see it implemented.
I just hope the AI truly has the same vision limitations as the human player. Too many strategy games impose a fog-of-war system on the player but give the AI omnividence on the battlefield.

this is how a LoS system realy shoud work,im verry happy to see it.
on the ign vid it was so funny to see AL lose the battle after losing track of some enemy units
It's too bad that with only 20 units in an army, we already have to sacrifice some to act as scouts.
nha just 1 cheap cav unit is good for scouting,or a spy in the army can do something similar?
Totally agree, those big eyes that appear above each units are kind of distracting... So everytime your units cant be seen by enemies, will they always appear? Its better if those were not there because in real life, you wont have a clue if enemy already watches your move from afar...
P.S.
If your units are hidden in forest, will those big eyes still appear?
It looks arcade, some realism is gone....

Thanks all for repliesI've another good reason for playing without banners and all of kind of markers as I'm used to do
And I love to idea to have to use at least one cavalry or skirmisher unit to scouting which is historical one of their main purpouse and it adds much deepness to gameplay. Well done CA this time.
