Good interview! Thanks for sharing. Here is a link to all reviews: http://forums.totalwar.com/showthrea...-here-they-are!
I saw this on the official forums, but the info is great. I'm really excited about the army system and creating a legacy for an army. I'm glad they switched the specialized traits from generals to armies, I think it forsters greater immersion.
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ- come and take them!

Some new screenies too. For me at least. + rep
Love the guy in the first screen leaping over to the ship.
Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse.
All war depends upon it.
One small detail that bothered me was that you can simply rebuild your legion if it's destroyed. The article did not mention that you had to retake the city where the legion was lost. It simply said that you could rebuild the legion with a general in one of your cities. Also, there is currently no penalty for losing a legion other than having lost all the units and possibly the general it was with.
Yeah this would seem a bit odd but I'm imagining that there will be some penalty, perhaps lose a couple of the army traits (ie take it down a level or two), that we dont know about yet. Bear in mind that even though we've had a glut of info we're still talking about scraps when it comes to the scale of this game. Much more to discover![]()
Heh, not quite, Al. But no matter, for me as a roleplayer, this traditions system is probably my most-anticipated feature of Rome II.“Think about the 101st Airborne,” Bickham said at a recent preview event for Rome II. Remember Band of Brothers? He’s talking about those guys: “They’re all about their small unit tactics and being in enemy territory and working, effectively, guerrilla warfare. That’s what they do. They do that really well. They’ve done that for the last 100 years, right?"
Excellent!

Watching all the videos that have been released, showing off historical battles and factions, I was beginning to think Creative Assembly had a reason to hide the campaign. I can’t deny the spectacle of those battles but I’ve been waiting to see what’s behind them. Now that I have, there’s the promise of a game that hasn’t just had a facelift to impress the world, but that has improved significantly where it really matters – in the nature of its long-term strategic decisions, character and cultural portrayals, and imaginative potential.
The Emperor has some fancy new clothes, it’s true, but he’s also got a hell of a body. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of it."
Sounds promissing conclusion, RPS is one of the sites I think still are worth noticing, and what they say.
amazing new feature indeed![]()
Loving it, it's getting so exciting now![]()
WHat I like about this is the persistent nature of armies. If any of you have ever played Homeworld, you'll know the feeling of using the same units throughout the entire game, and becoming attached to them, I'm hoping something similar could arise from this new system.

I'm playing the original now, just finished psi-labs. There is couple persons who I have had from the beginning... Yeah, I agree, but in UFO:Enemy unknown you have possibility of losing them for good, so it really isn't the exact same thing. New X-Com not so much, I didn't care those guys barelly at all, they made them boring "skill builds" with almost identical stats, that didn't mean much due to the simplified gameplay. Everybody is super-soldier after couple ranks. And after the start you barelly losed anyone due to balance issues with normal difficulty, and harder the AI just cheated so when you lost someone it always felt unfair... Off-topic, but I'm so salty how much potential it had, and they managed to dumb down a game that came for DOS...
But all in all, the persistency is great idea imo, atleast in theory. Can't wait to test it out.
Also, I have to say, this picture from the article is so freaking beautifull... Man...
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Rubuilding a Legion was already possible in Roman time and it's far too obvious that CA has implemented this. At least it will easier than before.
