Default I do not like the Mauretania provence

It is too large and extends too far into the desert. I dislike that because I dont really want to conquer desert regions with little economic value. Id rather those desert regions comprise another province or something. Perhaps Numidia Inferior and Superior. Point is in order to take the province you have to take the desert regions and I dont want sand regions full of absolute nothing but rocks and camels and spiders.

Half of the desert provinces are useful. There is purple dye, leather and a wonder.

Yes. Huge desert areas are another one of those CA/SEGA "gameplay" decisions that giveth exotic but meaningless locales with one hand, while the other taketh away full features for the main map areas in Italy, Greece, the Near East, walled Syracuse, Jerusalem etc.

I mean you did see the battle map for Syracuse in the Hannibal Trailer, no? Looks like a remote outpost town, reminds me a bit of Aqaba in the Lawerence of Arabia movie. Very odd when compared to the campaign map Syracuse where it takes up a third of the eastern half of Sicily!
