Default Imperial Shields on Roman/Italic ships

    Hi guys,

Looking at some of Rome 2's recent screenshots from (presumably) the prologue, I couldn't help notice that both the Roman and Samnite ships are lined with Roman shields dating the imperium. I'm not saying it destroys the game completely, but I just find it to be lacking in attention to detail.

Does anyone know if these are just place-holders or what?

I think something like the following would be more fitting:

Again, I know I am just nit-picking really, its not a total immersion-killer, but I was wandering if any of you guys knew if it was just a place holder or not?

I think it just personal taste, really. Like I said, I'm not going to be up in arms because this little mistake, but I think the republican shield at the side of the Roman ships would be a better choice simply because they were in use for a longer period of time, even during the mid to late Augustan period. That's just my input on it.

I won't waste my time ranting and raving about it , it's just an observation.

Agree with OP. Hopefully it's placeholder, but it's a bit late in the day for that...

I completely agree. I wrote about it in other thread, but CA ignored me.

This scutum is from 1st century AD. Samnites didn't used them few centuries before.

In Romans shield should be Republican scutum, in Samnites ships their shields style, in Greek ships - aspis shields etc.

It is not hard to change.
CA have models of correctly shields in land units. They can replace shields without any problems.

I hope they will fix it.

I agree ... I hope the ships will upgrade their shields according to the type of units are hosting .

I don't understand how you can complain about using the wrong shape shield and NOT mention the lack of a Corvus!! I mean, really? The gangplank developed by the Romans was key to their naval strategy and their defeat of Carthage in the 1st Punic War. All we've seen so far shows ships pull up near each other and guys just... Merge. Marines from the ship that initiates the boarding just swarm the other one. And you're worried about SHIELDS?? Lol

Perhaps the Corvus is a later tech. I think in Rome only the late Scipii had access to a Corvus ship.

Indeed a minor issue, would be nice to see it fixed. But it would really not be a problem if it weren't.
