Remember these?
Do you think we will see the return of these glorious structures?

No, no and no.
I don't want watchtowers I'd like to think that my population would inform or scouts of any enemy movements within our boarder.
We Came, We Saw, We Ran Away!
I liked watchtowers personally, but given the fact that they weren't in Shogun 2 and CA has stated repeatedly they're trying to move away from micromanagement I doubt they'll be in Rome II.
I used them extensively in Rome 1 and Medieval 2, and I for one hope they make a return. You'd think that it would be appropriate given the Roman militaries propensity for building pallisaded and staked camps, fortresses and of course watchtowers...
They have been replaced by "defensive" stances
It would be awesome if you could build defences/watch towers on the map. Providing you could also delete them.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Both systems have advanatages and disadvantages. The system seen in Shogun 2 assumes that anyone working for you (peasants/traders/etc.) is feeding you information, which is fine, but it leaves you with no way of permanently increasing vision. The older system is a more militarised system, where you are only getting information from military establishments (ie. the watchtower system).
I would love to see an amalgamation of the two. Civilian LoS could be the same as in recent games, however does a civilian know whether an army is large/small, useful information on units, along with very low chance of agent detection. On the other hand, a military establishment has limited coverage, but allows for greater intelligence detail in those areas it does cover, including a decent chance of detecting enemy agents (but not at the level of an active agent, agents should obviously trump permanent structures).

It’s better to excite some and offend others than be bland and acceptable to all

Ofcourse I didnt. Why put them in a town inside your own borders where they only give a small LoS increase (comparitively), when I can have them in enemy territory working their dastardly magic, and giving me advance warning thats actually gets to me before the problem arrives. The implication was a permanent system rather than a transient one, something that helps inside your domain which isn't as susceptible to assasination (however sabotage...)

I hope they make a return. Would not be very stealthy if you were visible every time you tried to sneak into an enemies territory for a quick headshot.
It would be amazing to be able to sabotage towers via agents to hamper an enemies ability to see properly. Also, the ability to dismantle your own if you felt you misplaced it.
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

I used to enjoy watchtowers for the most part. It was fun to build watch towers in newly captured regions and imagine it was part of the process of assimilating the region into my empire.
It was annoying though how the old campaign tile system meant that the watchtowers might not appear in exactly the place I thought they would and so would often have to Quick save and Quick load to get them in the desired position.
But I am sure that they will not be in Rome II, and I think they probably would seem out of place given the campaign map design and the changes to how the campign map works.
I'm glad they were removed, the biggest issue I had with them is once they were built they could not be destroyed or taken down. Also the Ai would put them in ridiculous locations so you would be stuck with them for the rest of the campaign. If they make a comeback they should be destroyable, but to be honest I prefer they stay gone the less clutter the better.
I hated those watch towers....

How about a return to the watchtowers of the first Shogun or Medieval? You simply build "watchtowers" (which could be upgraded) as a city structure, which would affect the whole province.
since when they got out of the game?man i play to mutch 'old'total war games(mods ofcourse)
