Default woman in rome total war

I remembered that Dom on the Carthage campaign map video told that (i beleave) the Suebi had a witch as an agent. Will there be more woman to look at in this game. I know it is mostly dominated by men, but i was wondering if there were more woman in the game. I really love Boudicca in the Manda Scot series and Auriane daughter of the light by Donna Gillespie (She is a made up character unfortunately). I am interested in a lot of woman who played an important part in ancient history: Dido, Cleopatra, Julia, Boudicca etc etc. But would also like to see them in city view once we get it as a mod or dlc or something.

Hope there is some female unit. For me a total war wouldn't be itself without Elephants or a female unit. :p

Maybe the elephants are girl elephants.

...Or maybe the women are elephants.

It would be interesting if the factions have some internal politics and frequent rebellions witha political background (not just rebel armies appearing from nowhere).

For example, many Ptolemaics queens have rebelled against the Pharaoh and it would be nice to see sth like that.

Even more interesting the fact that most of these queens were all relatives with the rest of the royal family through incest.

Women played a large role within the Germanic tribes, think northern Europe.
But I have no idea how CA will show it in R2.

Well Strabo tells us (second hand) the Cimbri priestesses or seers messily sacrificed prisoners and divined the future through the sprinkling of blood. Dunno about the sandwich duties.

I think your wishes may perhaps come true:

EDIT: I was not aware of women fighting in Hellenistic armies (these men appear to be Hellenistic with 'Illyrian' style helmets). Can anyone inform me in this respect at all? Will this potential unit have some historical basis, or will it merely be like a homage to the mythological amazons??

Wtf is this? I mean the artwork looks formidable, but a germanic looking girl fighting in linothorax with fancy earings? On a galley? Really?

Is this advertising even official, I didn't noticed it anywhere.

It was posed on the Pictures & Videos thread by Sertorio67. The artwork seems similar in style to that of the cover art for Rome 2, so I assume it is official, though don't take my word on that.

What you addressed is precisely my issue really. Why the earrings and northern European look? I wasn't even aware that any women would have fought in any of the hellenistic armies of this period. If it is in the game, there's nothing much that can be done about it. I'm not too great a fan of these fantasy units, really.

Although she quite closely resembles my wife (minus linothorax, sword...) I would not say she looks in any way typical "germanic"

I just note she even has the same facial expression, this usual late-again-where-have-you-been-staredown

Well any angry woman is somehow to remain anybody's GF/wife

I would say the auburn color and the blue eyes must have been a rare thing at this time around mediterranean peoples. Such a depiction fits for a Celtic or Germanic woman. Not to speak about fair skin.

Also, I don't really see how people could think that picture is objectifying women, she's wearing practically the same thing as the guy behind her and has perfectly normal physique. But oh no, the top of her tunic is a bit see through, you might see some cleavage....if it wasn't covered by a leather cuirass.
That's not she's not normal, actually the whole artwork is just stunning like I said! It's just if you want an actual depiction of what female warriors would looked like, you have to go for a more bulky construction. In boxing, you can see some real 'women-fighters' and I can tell you they don't look like that. They are often stocky and/or very muscular, with thick heads and arms/shoulders, they're actually not the kind of women you would bed (I'm not talking for everyone of them, some are sexy as Hell too but not that way).

Could the woman be Artemisia of Carta? One of the commanders of the persian navy in the battle of Salamis?

We are out of time-frame here, but hey, she's kewl!

    Secondary weapon...Alt-Attack...

It's super unfair using women in combat anyway. I couldn't kill them if I were there back then and a lot of men would face the same dilemma.
However, Barbarian screeching women are rumoured to be in there.

If I besiege a Barbarian settlement, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see some of their militia formed out of women.
Though they lacked training or even proper armor or weapons, women have raised arms against the Romans when they came to enslave and kill them and their families.
This would be a great feature to see and it would be even better if it were unique to the Barbarian factions. Only as militia though to show the true desperation of the settlement you are attacking.

Women fought on the Armenian side of the Battle of Avarayr (451), where Armenians fought against the Sassanid Empire to defend their Christian beliefs. You can see a woman on this depiction of the battle:

Female elephants were not used in battle. Their tusks are too small.
