Bridge Battle

I was fighting the persians on the bridge east of halicarnassus tonight. the persians attacked me but they will not cross the bridge. i sent 2 hoplites to defed the ford which was more than enough against the single unit of heavy cavalry they sent across. i set the rest of my army (5 hoplites, 3 cretan archers, and a general) on the opposite side of the bridge from the persians(2 light cavalry, 2 heavy cavalry, 6 spearmen, 5 archers). i route or kill all their archers with mine and my general but the rest of their army just sits in a line across the bridge and won't budge no matter how long i wait. i don't have the battle time limit on. any suggestions?

i am on one side of the bridge and the enemy is on the other. we are both gathered strait across from one another about fifty yards away from the river. they look as though they are about to cross being lined up singe file cavalry in front and infantry at the rear. i don't understand why they won't cross the river and attack. they started the battle after all. i have tried harassing them with my cavalry, crossing the ford to threaten them, and backing off from the bridge all the way to the red line. still they won't cross the bridge. this new ai is good but if they start a battle i wish they would finish it.

Firstly,try to harass them with your archers and then try to cross the bridge having your hoplites in front.

I am afraid whatever you do they wont come at you,maybe its some kind of bug.

i have finally figured this out. as i said they had 5 units of archers. i had been using my archers and my general to wipe them out before the persians form up to cross. the magic number was around 75%. if i killed more than 75% of their archers they would not cross. if someone else has experienced this, please let me know.

No, Usually the enemy wont cross until all their archers are dead.
This is a bug, to fix it enable the battle time limit. This way if they dont attack they lose, and they 9/10 times they attack to avoid the auto-defeat.
