Screen, mouse, keyboard stopped working (desktop)

Hi,

I was browsing the forums a few hours ago, doing nothing out of the ordinary, when my pc showed a dark-blue screen without any text or anything, and my speakers made a screeching noise. It stopped after 3-5 seconds, and the screen went out. I assumed my fan had stopped working and the pc had simply overheated, but when I checked, the computer wasn't very hot and the fan still worked.

I cleaned the inside which wasn't that dusty at all, cleaned the PSU, drained all the power from it by holding the power button for 30 seconds, but nothing has worked thus far. While the pc turns on, and I can charge my phone with a USB cable, it simply will not power the mouse, keyboard and screen. I noticed that before I drained the power from it, I had to hold the power button for half a second or so before it started up, which it didn't do before. After the power drain it started up immediately as it normally does. The second time after the drain I had to hold the button again before it started.

I'm using a Medion of which I don't know the exact type. It is about 3 years old.

I hope anyone knows what is happening, and possibly knows a fix.

It sounds like either your PSU is dying or your motherboard is damaged. I recommend following the troubleshooting steps below:

1. Install the monitor, mouse, and keyboard on a different machine to ensure they are still working.
2. Install a known-good PSU in your system? If it works, it was your PSU.
3. If it isn't your PSU or other components, something may have happened to your motherboard, since onboard peripherals aren't working.

Oh, I didn't think anybody would check back on this. I have an update.

I discovered that the PC boots up normally again if I disconnect my speakers, and if it has been a certain period of time since the last unsuccessful start-up. When I try to play certain games with it it crashes again, while it plays others without problems.
An example: It runs Medieval II and its mods without problems.
It crashes when I try to play COD MW3.
Now this is where it has me baffled:
If I play FIFA 13 seasons, it crashes, but when I play FIFA 13 FUT it doesn't for some reason.

Win 7, click start, type event viewer, enter. Browse to your heart's content.

They tell me almost nothing. It crashed at about 12:50 today, and the logs stop there until 17:30 which is when I manage to successfully start up again (Numerous tries inbetween, no reports). I get one 'error' about 1 minute after I sign in, which tells me the system shut down unexpectedly at 12:48:59. I also get a 'critical' which tells me the following:

Het systeem is opnieuw opgestart zonder eerst correct te worden afgesloten. Deze fout is mogelijk veroorzaakt doordat het systeem niet meer reageert of is vastgelopen of doordat de stroom is uitgevallen.

If you bring it to repair somewhere, you will have to consider the costs (work + new PSU or Board).

My brother has a pc in storage somewhere which he would lend me, but it isn't as good as this one is.

When you say crash, do you mean the computer shuts down or reboots, or the game crashes?

The screen goes dark but the sound keeps playing for ~3 seconds. Then the sound turns into a buzz, and then that disappears as well. Even though the PC is still running at that point, the only thing I can do is turn it off with the power button.

Guys,

Thank you for your help here, I've fixed my pc. I visited an employee of my father's company, who told me it probably was the graphics card. I replaced my current one with another one which my brother had lying around, and it works as a charm again.
