unable to save

I'm playing RTRPE newest version out and on BI 1.6. The problem is that I cannot save my games at any point, then i got a CTD and I lost everything. I was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this problem?

Yeah, can you autosave?, if you can't thewn there will be something wrong with the part of the programme that saves the game, try looking in the folder where the save games go some where in this file C:/windows/programme files/activision/rometotalwar

What do you mean by 'I can't save'? When you click on the save button you CTD?

I had a problem in RTRPE 1.6 (Imperator II with BI.exe) where the save and load buttons were not highlighted and the game wouldn't let me click them. Reloading from a previous save point and making sure to turn on the 4tpy script seemed to correct this...

no, I can't save at all. i beleive that the error message was "can't write to disk" I'm gonna check to see if the folder is set up correctly, otherwise I'll just reinstall

I never seen something like this. Please tell me the way you installed and the version of your RTW. Kind of a long shot, but who knows...

Also, were you able to save during a vanilla RTW campaign?

I installed following the detailed instructions on this site. Literally, word for word. I also have the 4tpy mod, but I didn't have that first I installed it. I've never had this problem before or even heard of it elsewhere as well. When I played RTR gold, this never happened, just when i started using platnum

This looks like you've had a full hard disk. Have you tried to defrag you hard disk or have some unused programmes delete ?

its def not a full hard disk. I have several gigs free. I'm thinking its something install and that the save folder for messed up. does anyone know where the commands for where the saves are supposed to go are located?

I'm guessing it's something wrong with the 4tpy script. Go to your data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign folder and open descr_strat.txt. Scroll down all the way to the bottom and place a ; at the start of the last line where it should say "script [something]" (this is referred to as "commenting out"). Delete map.rwm and start a new campaign. Without clicking any cities, try and save the game.

If that doesn't do it, then it's probably something to do with your computer. Can you save vanilla 1.5 games without any issues?

Which advice did you follow? It will help if you quote the post that you are referring to.
A CTD before you load your campaign is usually due to a mistake in the map.rwm file. It can be found in RTW\data\world\maps\base. Delete this file and restart RTW. The map file will be recreated when you start your campaign.
