    Default Rome II Loading Times

I don't really like Empire. The main reason for that is that the loading times last 1 minute or so each turn, which was annoying. Does anyone have any idea whether the loading times in Rome will be the same as in Empire? They both have a lot of factions, so eh.

Also, how was the loading time in Shogun? Never played it.

Hi there I've made indeed extensive tests in that case and the good news is that CA managed to solve the issue I fussed with them for some months since Shogun 2 was launched on totalwar.com.

It took over a year to fix this. I am thankful they managed it.

Your loading times in Empire were ridiculous fast compared to Shogun 2. Before the fix Shogun 2 needed 79 seconds to start the game on my high end rig when using dx11. Now it takes only 35 seconds on the same machine.

well with over a hundred factions i think it will definitely take a significant time for the AI to take its turns, ive raised this issue a few times but i still havent received a solid answer to it !!!

I've also wondered about loading times since CA hasn't shown it yet, which is normal because they will vary a lot. It's true that there are more than 100 factions in Rome II, but a lot of these factions will probably disappear after a few turns. Loading times for Shogun 2 are tolerable on my 3 year old laptop.

The battle of the nile look a LOOONG time to load the first time I loaded it up, each time after that was much much faster.
And when I say LOOOOOONG time, I mean like 10 minutes.

I guess that's the price we gotta pay for getting a huge game.

I have reports on other TWC Forums that moving your steam folder out of ...Program Files (?? ) decreases turn time.. Don`t know is this true, I don`t have steam installed. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_...hp?p_faqid=231

How on earth would that decrease turn times? I would recommend you don't do that, especially as it has the potential to muck up Steam.

Have you ever heard about Windows Virtualization in Win Vista, 7 and 8? It tends to "mess" up modifying of Protected Files, such as the files/folders located in Program Files( ?? ).. Steam is a Third Party program with ADMINISTRATOR RIGHTS, it has more POWER over your PC than your user account.

You can try to go around it by editing security of your Game's main folder.

Seeing the other factions movement can be skipped if you set your options right, that way if you end your turn you can immedeatly continue playing in your next turn. I've never used this but I know it excists, or atleast in multiplayer campaigns so the singleplayer should have it. Loading screens is what the title actually made me think of and they are indeed long, but if you reinstalled your game (yes, the entire thing ) after that patch that restructures the game or whatever your loading screen time should decrease by quite a bit.

the loading times in Empire were acceptable after numerous patches, and they were pretty good in Napoleon. in Shogun2 it takes an eternity for me when i start the game, but once it s running and i m playing the loading times are alright again.

I hate the loading times in Shogun 2. I think a huge part of the problem is having a 3D title screen, which it looks like we'll have again in Rome II.

Surely using an SSD or a 7,200rpm HD would cut these times down?

My load time for Shogun's not bad, I'm pretty sure they will improve the load time for Rome II.
