The fifth most sold game is Rome 2 and its more than a month away till release.

Seems like its a hit already.

Wonder how long until it reaches the nr 1 spot?

"Oh yes, I just...fell down the stairs...gosh I'm so clumsy." Rome II replies.
"Well if you're sure..." you say, with a concerned tone. Then you hear another voice...
"Baby I'm sorry!".
You look up to see the fans.
"Honey, I got a little angry, and I lashed out. You know that about me. You knew that when you married me. It's just that...you make me so darn mad sometimes..."
They grab Rome II by its shoulders.
"But baby...I love you. And I always will. Please forgive me."
And Rome II and the fans embrace.
You go back to your home. You know you should tell somebody what you saw, but you don't want to get involved. You come home, dinner's cooked and on the table. With your own Rome II smiling at you. You settle in for a night with the one you love.

+rep but you got the parties mixed up. The fans are the battered spouses; we've been beaten up countless times by CA/SEGA and for some reason keep hanging around for more...but the fanboys are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

My guess is not that they hate the game or CA but they hated themselves for actually loving the game/CA. In any case the sales figure is not surprising. Series like HBO Rome and few recent movies like The Eagle etc has brought many interest in Roman era, if not the actual history itself. What other form of entertainment that people can actually have direct control to recreate the actions that they have only seen in the movies ?

People love the period and some remember the original game which was in loads of ways ground-breaking. So that is the LOVE part, they however HATE when they feel that someone is needlessly destroying their potential game experience.

Not saying they are, but as soon as people see something which they feel could ruin this great game for them they panic and as a result we have many threads of some angry comments and so on.


I actually feel that mostly this is a good thing in some few occasions not, but mostly a good thing. I believe this game will be a great one and for me this is a game of my childhood and the most expected game ever. So will I be unhappy if by some chance I wont like the final product? Naturally.
Do I expect to not like it? No
Will I point out some things which I feel are not done well? Of course

He's looking at the "top sellers" on the front page. I can hardly call something like this news, I mean some days in the past R2 was number one. Some days it was number 20 or so. It's a measure of sales in the past 24 hours I recon.

It then slowly went down the charts as the initial orders died down, but generally staying within the top 20 or so, before resurging here and there as CA released more information/trailers. Now we're approaching release it will rise up the chart again and likely reach number one a day or so before release as happens with any anticipated game just before launch.

We've already heard that pre-orders were six times higher than S2 and that was a few months ago, and I imagine they've increased even more since then.

I usually take a peek every now and then on that list but cant remember seeing the game there....

Swedens biggest game retailer Webhallen.com got the game on first place(!) before battlefield 4 which is a Swedish company/game and really, really big here in Sweden.

Also, collectors edition at place 6

The game will come out soon, if you guys do pre-purchase. It's amazing, when you do not know where to spend the money.

When the game comes out will be the usual. "I want my money back", "does not work on my PC", "AI is broken", "no naval invasions".
