Default Ancient gods in Rome 2

Will ancient gods be important in game? I know that will be Statue of Zeus, Colossus of Rhodes or Arthemide Temple as wonders. Will be cities under patronize of gods? Example: Rhodos - Helios, Athens - Athena, Ephesus - Arthemide, Carthage - Baal, Rome - Jupiter etc. Will cult of gods in game? I would like to see that after battle - general thinks that he won battle because gods helped him. I don't think about real ancient gods in game.

You will be able to build shrines/temples to different gods. In the E3 Video you can See the shrine to mars in the UI in the Part where Antioch is being shown

Religon was an important part of civic affairs in most ancient civillizations, so I vote yes.

I think the only time it will ever go into specifics about a certain God would be through shrines and then giving you certain bonuses etc.
Other than that, it would just be grouped up into "regional religions" if you'd like to call it that.
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

I don't think religion will be playing an important role in the game. Probably will be about as important as religion in Empire: Total War, but I don't think we'll be getting any religious agents.

I do not think gods will be that important in the game. There will be religious unrest, and large temples and wonders will confer bonuses but that's all.

While on the topic of gods, an age of mythology style mod set in an older era would be super-cool. And super-hard to pull off I guess.

Rather than religion, culture will probably be more important. As one of the Roman families had a bonus for having high Roman culture in your cities. It'll basically be like modded RTW in that sense

I agree, this is in line with the new cultural victory. I do think that religion will play a role with a culture and give it bonuses.

I mean as far as buildings are concerned they should give their bonuses. The wonders of the world should also give their bonuses but as far as Gods shaping the landscape and stuff? no thanks.

Yes, it should be. The Gods were a reflection of the way of life at that time. Religion is important.

I think they should be as important as unrest, but not anything more than that. I don't think temple to Ceres should make you grow food better. A temple to Mars shouldn't make your army better, although perhaps a slight morale boost when fighting in the region and/or province it is in.

yea, they already confirmed that religion will be very important. they also said when you build the highest tier of a temple of a certain god you ll be able to summon that god or his powers on the battlefield. if you re a Zeus worshipper you can send lightning bolts upon enemy troops. if you pledge allegiance to Mars then you can activate rage-mode and every hit with a sword will set the enemy on fire. if you choose Hades you can summon an army of undead soldiers. with Poseidon you can unleash the Kraken in a sea battle

Perhaps Religion will be a part of Culture?

Like with Roman Culture, it will include everything from way of life to their deities.
