preload should mean that game will start downloading before September 3rd, so it is ready to be played at 3rd. (at least i hope that is what he meant)

The "Barbarian Set for Demo" part refers to another skin for a team fortress character (The demolition man) and has nothing to do with a demo. If that's what unclear for some.

I don't get the barbarian bit, unless its only a barbarian character added to the TF2 bonuses. The pre-load is obvious of course

It's the pants and hood for the demolition character in Team Fortress 2.

Probably demo will be battle with barbarians. We have enough info about Germans (screens, gameplay, trailer campaign), so I think that demo will be Romans vs Gauls.

Figure as I cant play it on the eve of the 2nd till the early hours, worth getting up on the 3rd, get it installed, head to work and come home to a ready to play campaign game.

Saves me a day of hols which I can use to take away the Mrs later in the year to apologise for the lack of attention she'll be getting during the month of September

Argh - don't know whether to cancel my pre-order from Zaavi and just go with Steam - Zaavi doesn't appear to have an option to upgrade delivery to the same day of release. I would like to have a hard copy of the disc though.
