Veritas Temporis Filia
No, i would rather say they are eastern (persian) who adopted many aspect of the hellenistic culture and posed as champions of hellenism later against Rome.
They definitely stressed their persian origins when dealing with their eastern subjects and the eastern states.
They are a mix and they used both of their identities (hellenic and persian).
But i don't think defining them as hellenistic with eastern influence is accurate, even if i agree that they were for a large part a hellenistic state thanks to their adoption of greek culture, greek "philoï" and inter-marriage.
Under the patronage of Emperor Maximinus Thrax
"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."

Have to go with Athens, coolest name, best colours IMO and ofcourse awesome Navy and hitsory
ariyan, Pontus is Hellenistic faction. Are you fan of Persian/Parthians? If yes, I understand why you think that Pontus isn't Hellenistic. It is not objective. Pontian culture was Hellenistic and some regional elements. Villagers are eastern (In Seleucids too) but citizens adopted Hellenistic clothes, architecture etc. Pontians used Greek style army - phalangites, hoplites, companions. They used Hellenistic cataphracts probably, similar to Seleucids, not Parthians.
Voted Macedon. Bactria is a close second though.
Pontus for sure... and they are hella Hellenistic... even Hellenic to some extent as they used to be a colony of Hellenic Greece as well as a state of Hellenistic power.
In Rome 1 Pontus was eastern culture faction, but it was a big mistake. In mods like EB, RS2 Pontus is Hellenistic faction. It will be in Rome 2, too.
Athens first, followed by bactria ( can't vote unfortunately)
I'd have said Pontus are definatley Greek, obviously not 100% greek, but style of battle, equipment and troops is definately Greek influence.
Just completed a year long course on them during their golden age. Its Athens for me.
"Rem tene; verba sequentur." - Grasp the subject, the words will follow.
Epirus, followed closely by Pontus. Pryuss and Mithradates are two of my favourite generals of antiquity...and Pontus is definitely a hellenic power, what with their hellenic culture and hellenic armies and what not...
Pontus is definitely Germanic ^^
Voted Ptolemies as I think that one will be most interesting. Macedon is a good second.
Of the Greek dlc I find Epirus most interesting because of their proximity to rome.
Furthermore, Knossos could be fun to play, just sit on the island and don't give a damn on what the other factions do.
