    Default A few questions

So before I upgrade I want to know a few answers to some questions.

1)If I buy a normal X1900XT, will I be able to buy a crossfire edition at Christmas and run crossfire? OR will I need both cards to be the crossfire edition.

2)I am looking for a Crossfire AM2 skt mobo, this is the only one I could find. is it any good? Im not expert on mobos.

3)How powerful of PSU will I need to run an AMD AM2 Athlon 2x512kb cache 2.6HGz and a ATI Radeon saphire X1900XT with about 2BG DDR2 RAM?

4)I I was to need a new PSU, would I need a new case, or are they in standard sizes?

    Thanks.

    1) You only need one Crossfire edition card.

    2) The review of that board looks pretty good, I say get it.

    3) I would suggest an OCZ Powerstream(click!) or OCZ GameXStream(click!) Try to keep it above 500watt and have at least 30 amps on 12V rail.

4)All ATX psu have the same size, only the 1000watt PC P&C PSUs are a little bigger, but even those should fit in most good sized cases.

Ok thank you. Although that PSU looks a little pricey, will I really need all that power?

If you plan to go crossfire with 2 X1900s, then yes. Those things suck up a lot of power.

Enermax Liberty(click!) is pretty good too.

    1) Click this link for Xfire info, including GPUS and Mobos

    ATI XFire Page

2)That mobo looks like an SLI, not XFire.

    3) I'd say 450 - 500W should be enough.

    4) Depends on your case, and it depends on the PSU. That being said, most are compatible, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Most PSUs list their sizes though, so you should be able to take out the ol' tape measure and get the answer that way.

Whoops, yea that is a SLI motherboard, you need to get a ATI chipset motherboard.
