Default Death of barbarian king in battle should result in morale boost....

When King Theodoric of the Visigoths died in the Battle of Chalons against the Huns, it inspired his warriors to fight harder. When they finally retrieved his body, his men sang songs of bravery to his honor, in full view of the enemy. I think upon the death of their king, at least the barbarian factions should get a morale boost instead of the usual morale hit. Perhaps some units would be granted the "berserker rage" status, with increased attack strength and speed. Thoughts?

Perhaps as a trait that some kings can have, but not necessarily all of them. I doubt every barbarian king was so beloved as to inspire is men after death. Also I doubt he would inspire them if he is killed while routing.

Agree. I think usually also by barbarians it was the other way around. If I remember correctly Ceasar described some of such situations where the barbarians immediately gave up when the their leader was killed.

Though the idea of OP is plausible as well. So I think your suggestion would be a good choice. Usually same effect as for civilized faction but some barbarian characters should have a trait that causes an opposite reaction of his troops.

I like the trait idea, so if a general or king is really loved he gets a trait that will grant a morale boost to his men if he dies. But ,yeah, not everybody should have it.

Will there be a recover leaders corpse option for units?

I agree with the second poster. I'd be fine with this, but I want the player to lose control of his army if this happens. The AI should take over and it's priority should be to reach the Kings death spot and, from their to charge the enemy.

i like the way OP thinks....

and so, i think it would be only reasonable to add a 'win button' to the hud whenever you play as romans, since they dominated the known world for centuries :3

Maybe kings should also sometimes be wounded, so as they're not completely dead and if the battle is won you still have him.

I think the ideas presented here are good, although I don't think it should necessarily be limited by faction, but rather by the general and the troops he leads. For example, at the battle of Sentinum in the third Samnite War, the Consul Publius Decius Mus, with his army collapsing around him, led a desperate charge into the ranks of the advancing enemy and was killed, but his sacrifice inspired his men to rally and win the day. Any faction should be able to experience that, I think

I think this would bring a greater strategic element to battles. If your Rome fighting barbarians, do you go for the kill early knowing you could send some enemy units into a rage? Increased attack strength and speed offset by a loss of control of that unit seems like an interesting trade off.

Would be a nice feature, but i would like it for all factions and that it is random triggerd. Maybe a 10 % Chance in the case of the Generals death, that is happend when your own Army has less than 50 % of their orginal strenght, which let them to decide to rather died than escape because the battle is lost anyway and because they want to died with their general, which lead eventually even to a turn of fate

Make it 1 of a traits that kings or generals can have after surviving a near-death scenarios a couple times, maybe?
Though, I do remember, this situation only lasts until the troops can recover the body, though.

That's too complex for this game. Maybe it could work but only if all of your units glowed gold for a few seconds in order for you to be able to see that indeed they now have a morale boost.
