Arrows sticking in shields, among other cool stuff!

I really hope arrows can stick in shields, on the siege of Carthage trailer, I only saw arrows sticking into the bodies of men, which is neat. I hope there isn't 1v1 duels, also it is neat, the style of warfare would of been alot different, since Romans worked together, protecting the man next to them, so it would be cool if some soldiers back stabbed the enemy when in melee if they was attacking an ally.

Those sound great, but i what i want most is soldiers not fighting to the death on the front lines all the time, like in the first battle scene of HBOs rome, the soldiers take turns on the front and then make their way to the back of the formation after a minute or two, in every total war soldiers in line one have just tryed to kill as may as possible before they were killed themselves and the guys at the back could go whole battles without fighting, which makes me wonder why they would stand with their heads fixed forward and not behind since they are not going to be fighting the enemy in front of them unless everyone else dies.

I agree, the Romans should be able to use certain formations, like how they sort of boxed in elephants then cut them up!

yea....... back of the bus u go talk about petty, this has to be the worst complain I have ever read.

Im not complaining its something i know wont be in the game but it really should be, im not going to not buy the game because of it, but it makes sense that soldiers might not actually want to fight to the death and the guys at the rear dont stand and watch everyone else die before thay rout without ever fighting anything, and then get cut down by cavalry .... Jus sayin.

Well the arrows will atleast bounce off shields, don't know if they can get stuck too.

They already said that the animations of men are 1vs 1 , and not group animations so there won't be any of the special way of fighting of the romans .

Prom is correct that is known, confirmed. However the men will take damage from more than one if that is the case, just animation wont simulate fighting more than one at a time.

This is dumb if it's confirmed. Watching the teutoberg forest trailer you can see barbarians working together to kill enemy soldiers I'd love to see that and I think that's a new step CA will take in future total war titles i hope

no they didn't they said it's not going to be like shogun where ''individual sumurai would seek eachother out and fight'' but it will be brutal group fights where it matters how many men they are fighting. but then again that was in the siege of carthage scripted battle so we will just have to take their word for it.

Something like that, yes. It was the same in RTW. Individual soldiers stabbing at individual soldiers with occasional group combat. In M2TW, formations were less of a priority so you saw more group combat. I don't think TWR2's combat will be that bad.

How can Ancient Warfare even compare to the Battle of the Atlantic (on that scale) or the Allied Bombing Campaign of WW2. There was simply nothing like it back then. You've got to be kidding me...

So we have not a real legioner but why?Why we can not see the Romans fighting as the way they were famous for?Is that really hard to create some group fighting actions?Then i have a good place for this game:TRASH!

Arrows and spears do get stuck in to where they hit Shield's, Ground, Men, Elephants. whatever. How long they stay there we don't know yet.

There's definitely arrows and javelins getting stuck into whatever they hit and wherever they hit. In Siege of Carthage, a Carthaginian defender caught a few Javelins and one of them went through his head.

No worries should be had when it comes to this feature, friend.
