    Default Newbie - hello!

    Hi everyone,

I just bought a copy of Medieval 2 and I love it! I never realised how addictive these games are. I am trawling the forums for tips and advice but I do have one question.......is it possible to change the heir apparent?

I look forward to getting to know you all.......

    Hi StueydeMack!

Good thing you're enjoying the game so much. Sadly, the only way to change the Heir is to kill him off. Still, that might sometimes be a good idea. An example would be: You are King Guy of France, and your first born son is an absolute oaf lacking any good stats or traits. Your second son, though, is a true genius and a natural leader. In this scenario, I myself would send my son to fight a battle he can't possibly win, and let him die.

Welcome! Make sure to check out the Who Am I? thread in this forum, it's almost as addictive as the game itself!

It isn't possible in M2TW, it was in RTW but they left that feature out for some reason.

Probably to simulate the dynastic system of medieval Europe as opposed to republican Rome where it was usually the most competent guy that became head of the family.

There are certain mods that could somewhat help in this.

Hi, I hope you have the Kingdoms expansion as well, otherwise you're missing out on all those amazing mods.

Thanks for joining! Have a great time.
And, to answer your question, no. Also, read some AAR's (After Action Reports). They are like stories, and are very addictive.
