I guess we'll wait and see...or we can all keep yelling at eachother about AI and how game development works.

Hmm, This Warscape game engine was developed for ETW and the gunpowder era.
So it may give the BAI programmer some headaches with a melee based period?
Plus there seems to be a change in the way battlemaps are generated, that and giant cities may give way to pathway issues.
Also I guess capture points have been introduced to help the BAI with reference points.
Given this is a new game which is not generating battlefields or cities like previous games. CA are in experimental mode with this baby.
So they will be trying to the last minute to get things right.
If they succeed then the BAI programmer should be lauded.
If they fail, Hmm perhaps a public humiliation will be his or her lot.
That I shall leave to the other development team members of CA as its their reputations on the line.

You know what would calm all of this down? A video of a full unscripted battle showing off the ai and all that. no fancy narrating or editing, just raw footage of somebody playing the game.
Aelfwine, then, spoke out and valiantly declared: 'Let us call to mind those declarations we often uttered over mead, when from our seat we heroes in hall would put up pledges about tough fighting; now it can be proved who is brave. I am willing to make my lineage known to all, that I was from a substantial family in Mercia. My grandfather was called Ealhelm, a wise nobleman blessed with worldly wealth. The thanes among that people shall not reproach me for my wanting to get out of this army, to make my way home, now that my lord leader is lying hacked down in battle. To me that is the greatest grief: he was both my kinsman and my lord." Then he moved forward and turned his attention to revenge, so that with his spear he struck a seaman among the army so that he lay dead among the ground, destroyed by his weapon. Then he exhorted his comrades, his friends and companions, that they should advance.

I don't and will never thrust this testers nor any magazine. They can say what they want and it's far too clear it's fooling all of you. The best tester is each people who can really see the final game. For me I will take it and will play myself.
Oh I've already bought it myself. But complaining about the AI being bad in a Total War game is like complaining about the sun rising. What does get annoying though? Is CA saying with each new game that the AI has been completely redone or vastly improved. There was a comment during the Angry Joe interview where the dev said the AI was actually beating them and I had a flashback to Empire or Medieval II. Couldn't remember which one it was, where they had made the same remark.
They may not be lying, exactly, but they sure are stretching theout of the truth.
They might as well be winking at the camera when they say those things because its not like we don't know better, by now.

Everybody that is worried about the ai because of this article are forgetting that they only got to play on the easiest difficulty.
People are worried of everything this stupid article says. For me I have stopped reading magazines since ages. I prefer test myself.
I`m not worried about the 55 euro`s i spend on my pre-order. Ive spend more money on other crappy games that did not deliver on promises. But what i fear most is a TW game with my favorite setting not doing what it is supposed to be doing. Like having an AI at least as good as the last game (shogun 2)

No people may be worried about:
no demo (first time ever in Tw) +
non-scripted battle still to see (first time ever in TW in just a month from release) +
ai improvements just "expressed verbally" from CA +
first preview not much "stimulating" about ai =
Yes, I wouldn't call "crazy" someone a little worried about... but also yes we have to wait and see our own, but not before we buy the game this time....

Well on a happy note. Not long now! Hooray.
P.S Even if i have to wait for patches/mods I am not bothered because i'll occupy myself solving any tech probs that users on here have.(oh and new gpu+screen needed).
Been some good arguements back and forth on this forum Rome2 is going to be a bit of a milestone I think because it will tell us one way or another who has been right about things over the years and will give us all time to sit back and reflect.
My gut feeling and I hope I am right is it's the last outing of Warscape. (i'd actually pay £5 more if they confirmed a new engine).
