We saw the AI in action in the Nile battle which was also scripted so you'd expect it to be better than the standard. It was crap. A month away from release, this is not assuring.

I assumed it was scripted to make it easier, and faster on the players and press.

On gamestar's site there are a couple screens I haven't seen before- the only interesting one was showing the same place in 4 different seasons.

AI has always been a liability in TW but it is usually just good enough so it isn't completely boring for the first few campaigns. FotS BAI seemed somehow weaker than Shogun 2 but I think due to so many ranged weapons and the strength of artillery. If BAI is at least as good as Shogun 2 that is acceptable to me, however the 2 major changes affecting AI are LoS and multiple capture points in battles. If CA can at least meet those objectives adequately I'll be thrilled.

What I'd really like to see CA fix is the CAI... the reports of lots of little armies running around doesn't make me confident nor the screens showing multiple armies/fleets with what appears to be uncoordinated objectives.

Can anyone provide a link to this article?

Well I had already prepared myself to wait x months before playing a big campaign so not that bothered. (but disappointing)

I am worried re lack of Darth though this time as he was pretty quick with his A.I overhauls. Still there are other good modders out there so fingers x.

Perhaps on hard/very hard things will be better.

Why would particularly The Plebeian be unhappy about this?

AFAIK, once the units disembark from the ships, the ships cannot be used anymore. At least that's how it seemed to be in the Nile video.

And anyway, given the track record of AI's performance in every single TW game to date, I see little reason to be so defensive and optimistic about it.

See, if that is the case, then I genuinely agree that it is an issue that should be resolved, and honestly I am not too worried about that. It is a new feature, and I have faith it would get fixed sooner or later (hopefully sooner ). If there is nothing to fight at sea the AI should determine that landing the troops on transport is the best option.

Still, I really am looking forward (well hoping) to see an unscripted battle soon.

If the AI really sucks we really need Dart back, but he retired..........

    I hope it's not true

Maybe the AI is also limited by the line of sight system. That could explain some apparent incompetences that may due to a lack of information. Gamestar is a good magazine in my opinion but they are not experts in total war games and might misinterpret the AI actions.
By the way, are there games out with better AI? Because the main problem seems to be that total war just need better AIs than other games.

My money will be taken "at the start", not after the time needed for making the patches.
Disclaimer: the post above is way way prealpha, the final version will be way better than this.

So I will buy the game as soon as Ai seems to be acceptable at least. CA can take all their time, I will take mine and I'm very relaxed.

You know what? Once again, I am worrying about ladders. On the last pics we saw, we see no ladders and we know all that CA have a problem with ladders: ropes in ETW and NTW, spidermans in Shogun...

My friend was told at E3 that there will be no ladders.

Lack of assault ladders in total ball: Roma 2 - is a Epic Fail.
    CA, where assault ladders?

This would be ridicilous mate, I would have ladders that are bugged instead of nothing. Wonder how the towers work. There were quite good in Rome 1.

Many of my past contributions in the time from 2011-2017 will contain content that now show broken links. Unfortunately I had to delete all pictures linked on TWC that were hosted on imageshack.us. Read why
