Not putting archers on the walls?

There's a line between 'making it easier' and 'making it stupid easy through completely dysfunctional AI'. It makes me a little worried, though I hope the article's impressions are incorrect.

But we're one month from release day. Surely at this point the AI should be mostly ironed out by now and they're spending this time polishing the game, chasing down a few last bugs, etc.
For example is confirmed that the build of the battle of the Nile is more than 3 months old

The build for demostrations, public pre-release event, etc is not the same build that CA (like all other software house) are working on in this moment.

Testudo formation is probably in the tech tree but I think it should be limited to a certain type of units.

If the report came from the latest build of the game then this hype train will slowly plummet into the core of the earth. It was a thrill, gentlemen

I hope this isn't Rome Total War but with better graphics. If the AI hasn't changed, even with their promises, what else have they fibbed about?

Tried to rep you for this because I laughed hard but I was told I must "spread rep around" before repping you again. Such is life.

The AI issues sounds really worrying. If the AI still stands in the middle of towns and lets you shoot it to death with arrows while standing still, well, the .gif pretty much sums up my reaction.

As far as I can recall, don't they always say the AI is vastly improved and we always find they are "exaggerating," at best? I feel sorry for whoever does the AI for Total War games. Or do you think they hire a new guy for each one because the last one quits.

They pulled the pics due to copyright legal issues.

Scans of a German magazine article with some old screenshots. You didn't really miss anything if you don't speak German.
Aelfwine, then, spoke out and valiantly declared: 'Let us call to mind those declarations we often uttered over mead, when from our seat we heroes in hall would put up pledges about tough fighting; now it can be proved who is brave. I am willing to make my lineage known to all, that I was from a substantial family in Mercia. My grandfather was called Ealhelm, a wise nobleman blessed with worldly wealth. The thanes among that people shall not reproach me for my wanting to get out of this army, to make my way home, now that my lord leader is lying hacked down in battle. To me that is the greatest grief: he was both my kinsman and my lord." Then he moved forward and turned his attention to revenge, so that with his spear he struck a seaman among the army so that he lay dead among the ground, destroyed by his weapon. Then he exhorted his comrades, his friends and companions, that they should advance.

It's just a link to a terrible German site with a TON of ads. The pics weren't really anything special anyways.

I can understand peoples complaints about the AI, it does sound a bit confused from what is being said. I don't really care when it comes to clever AI. I'd rather not have an AI that can see every little gap in my line and flank everything etc.
However, if the AI cannot even come up with a good enough defence, put archers on the wall and even form a straight line of spear troops...it is not looking good at all. I want a competent AI not a clever AI.

I'm a formation destroyer but I'm kind of getting the feeling that there won't even be a formation to destroy :O
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

I hope they will quickly fix the Ai (Anna make a worry face). Were not the limitations about the armies there to avoid ai mini-stacks.

I am sad too about the assassinations videos and the battle speechs.
