This mod looks amazing. Unfortunately, I'm the opposite of tech savvy and have no idea how to get it working.
I downloaded both the Steam mod starter and the torrent for RotK.
I placed the modstarter application in the M2TW mods section, along with the 'additional folder.' I do not know what "Rename the .cfg File of the mod to Configuration.cfg (!important)" is telling me to do, so I skipped over that. I assume I need to do this before the mod will work, so if anyone could inform my savage self what that means and what I should have done, please do so.
I downloaded the files to a folder on my desktop and opened them, running the application with an icon, which I don't think I should have done, as now I have all the Beta files and the Word file readme, but not the application. I've downloaded the application over again, but when I get those files, do I simply make a folder for them in the M2TW mods file and place them there?
jsully16 - I'm not sure what you have to do when running the Steam version, but I thought it was nothing anymore. I know it use to be a issue but has been addressed.
What you should try is.
1. Open folder on your desktop with all the files you downloaded.
2. Run the Rise of Three Kingdoms Beta.exe
3. When you are prompted, make sure the install is pointing to the Medieval II directory. (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\SEGA\Medieval II Total War) or where ever it is on your computer
4. After install, double click the desktop shortcut for Rise of Three Kingdoms to start the mod
That should be it. Also don't forget the patches. Download them and point the install to the MEII directory as well. The installer will create the mod folder.

I've done that so far. But when I click the Three Kingdoms mod icon on the desktop it launches Medieval 2 Total War: Kingdoms, and if I hit play, I get the option to play either Medieval or one of the four expansions.
The modstarter thing, I believe, is the last step I need to get the mod working, but as I said, I've no idea what that sentence is telling me to do.
Sorry jsully16, Gig should be waking up in the next few hours. If anyone can help you it will be him. I just don't have MEII on steam so not sure how exactly it needs to be configured.
EDIT: Well Gig is online. Maybe he will see this soon, or Seether may know. Good luck
The EXE that came with the basic installation IS the modstarter. As long as you install the game into the ...\Medieval II Total War folder of your machine (nowhere else!) you should be good to go when clicking on the desktop icon.

Attention Steam Users Due to the use of the Steam compatible modStarterno further action is needed. Simply run the game by double clicking the desktop short cut 'Three Kingdoms' and your game will start.
Suggestion: manually delete your mod folder (Three_Kingdoms) and the desktop icon. Then re-install and make sure the installation path points to your ..\Medieval II Total War folder. Before all that run this tutorial from step 3 onward.
