If I'm not mistaken, I think you're saying, "When I go to the Third Age campaign and pick a faction, I click start, and it brings me back to the menu."

I'm not sure what would cause that, I would honestly recommend a fresh install.

did you delete the two geography files in the data folder?

Are you playing vanilla or with a submod? Sounds like something MOS does if you didn't run the cleaner.bat after installing.

Hi,
I've recently installed M2TW and then all the require files for TATW and MOS submod. However when i go into the game and click on the Single player campaign choose a faction and press Start, the game crashes with a message "Medieval 2 Total War has encountered a problem and will now exit." I tried deleting the geography bin and txt files in data folder, reinstalling MOS submod, but nothing changes. Please help me.
My computer specs:
Windows 8
Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2328M CPU@2.20GHz(4CPU),~2.2GHz

8192MB RAM

Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000

Chip Type: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family

DAC Type : Internal

Approx Memory: 1664MB

1. Is your M2TW steam or non steam version?

2. Have you tested TATW before installing MOS submod and verified that TATW works ?

3. Have you installed all four TATW Installers?

Also, your Graphics card ( Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000 ) is a little weak for this game, you should lower all Video settings and test it. Be prepared to have lot of crashes during battles..

2) no i didnt try it before i installed MOS submob

I guess im just unable to run it due to my video card

There is a link in my signature bellow called: " EK's Install Thread ". Go there and do these steps which are explained:
1. Edit security for your main M2TW folder
2. Unhide hidden folders
3. Check VirtualStore and delete M2TW folder if you find it there.

4. Delete map.rwm file located in your main ../M2TW/ mods/ Folder where Third Age TW is installed/ data/ world/ maps/ base folder.

In my signature bellow, there is a link called: " EK's Install Thread".. Go there, it has pictures for installation, and these are the steps you need to do which are explained there:
1. Edit security, unhide hidden folders, check VirtualStore for M2TW folder and delete it.

2. Delete manually "Folder where TATW+ MOS is installed" in your main../M2TW/ mods folder.

3. Install all four TATW Installers, they have to be directed to your ../ Medieval II Total War folder.

4. Check does your TATW work and can you start a campaign. For battle crashes disable daylight savings, go to your CLOCK, Time Zone, uncheck "Automatically adjust daylight saving setting".

5. Install MOS using non steam instructions, run Cleaner.bat file at the end of installation, and for battle crashes delete two descr_geography_new files ( .db and .txt) in your ../ M2TW/ mods/ Folder where TATW+ MOS is installed/ data folder.

omg thank you so much, i found my mistake ( i by accident unchecked the Run MOS box in order to delete the files in folder after i installation was complete) and now it works. again thank you so much.
