crashing battles when fighting the dwarfs

Hi I'm new to TWC forums. I have been playing on a high elves campaign for over 300 turns. I have not experienced any crashes before. but now when I fight the dwarves I can't play an open field battle without it crashing. Siege battles are fine. I have windows 8, a steam version of medieval 2 and kingdoms and mos v1.41. I have tried deleting the descr.geography files, turning off UAC settings, turning off daylight control settings and deleting the map.rwm file, but none of these things has fixed the problem. I had this problem on my last laptop on which I was playing as the high elves against the dwarves. The only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling TATW, but I don't want to do that because then I would lose my high elves campaign which I've been playing on for months. The crash always happens as the armies are clashing or about to clash. Can someone please help?

Hi there and welcome to TWC Forums!

Open up your steam/.../ M2TW/ mods folder, and if you have a data folder in it which contains models_missile folder, then right mouse click on that same data folder, click on CUT, and PASTE it in your steam/.../ M2TW folder. Merge FOLDERS when asked, and COPY and REPLACE option for FILES when asked.
Then delete map.rwm file in your steam/.../M2TW/ mods/ FOLDER WHERE Third Age TW is installed/ data / world/ maps/ base folder.
Give another try to your battle.
