Is it just me, or does it seem like objects on land will cast shadows on the sea, but the landmass itself doesnt?
Edit: Also really curious what the heavily armored characters with no troops are. That I've spotted Rome and Macedonia both have one.

Just saw the camel where Corinth should have been.
Nice.
Merge with the above please.
Do we know if this the final form of the campaign map? Nothing else will be added?
It looks so empty it makes you sad. I guess even the biggest defenders of CA here should acknowledge that.
Loving these pictures.
Spoiler for King of Persia:
Intersting to the see what's going on in the distance. Thanks!

I noticed some inland water routes, as well with the Nile in an earlier screenshot. Are there navigable rivers in RTWII? Do you do it with the Danube/Rhine? That would be very awesome and it looks like they are doing it, but i never got an solid definitive answer.
Danube being navigable is good, since historically Roman Empire had a huge independent fleet set aside from their giant navy just to patrol the Danube. This continued until the time of the great emperor Heraclius and the Arab invasions, more than half a millenia later from the game's time.
But...Nile?

Yeah Egyptians used the Nile as the main highway of the country. Why walk through the desert to a town when you can take a boat trip? Rivers have never been very well thought out in any TW games. They did it in a few mods (like Third Age) and Vlad's Rusichi, and Last Kingdom and it seemed to work pretty well.
They aren't doing the Rhine? I mean if you are doing the Danube you may as well do the Rhine.
Rhine should be navigable as well in my opinion, although I pray not as utterly ugly visibly as the Nile they have done.
But still, Rhine was the one of the primary reasons of the collapse of the Roman Empire. They just couldn't hold the fortifications, even after the east-west divide. And then the Rhine froze in winter, allowing the barbarians (specially Franks and Goths), who were pushed westwards by the Huns, to freely march into the Roman territory, and they were just not prepared for it.
At the same time, Eastern Roman Empire kept the borders perfectly strong, patrolled the Danube with their huge fleet, and bribed away all invaders (including Huns) except the nearly-equally powerful Sassanid Empire.
