Icon2 Roman Families issue. Fixed by mods perhaps?

I'm interested and annoyed by the fact that nobody has raised the issue of Julia's conquest-centric bonuses and intended play-style. People seem to take this for granted, but the Julian line was almost as old as the Cornelian or Junian lines, but it was only the VERY LAST (direct) Julian family member who made it famous, and gave it its Military glory! Why is the entire line based around the one famous guy?

The Julians should be the public-order centred Roman Family, and the Cornelians should be the Conquest centred family. Sure, let the Junians keep their Republicanism, but our old friend JC was the only Julian worth mentioning who didn't fit the bill, and he was still a Populare, and a massive hit with the mob.
On the other hand, you have the Scipii, who are renowned as being the most aggressive and established Roman family of the Republic in terms of Military conquest and foreign policy! If I wanted to play the Roman campaign as an all-out death-fest, I know my first choice would be the Cornelii (Scipii), and if I wanted to play as the underdog with a deeply political and hard-fought struggle to the top ... style campaign, then I'd play as the Julii!
...but if I wanted to sit on my arse and watch the world close in on me while shouting conservative jibber-jabber from my seat overlooking the Forum Romanum, then I'd go for the Junii (Brutii (who else?!)).

My point is that I'd like to see a mod change the political bonuses and motivations of the existing Roman factions.
Let me know what you think. Perhaps, like me, you would have liked to see alternative Roman families (like the Aurelii, Aemelii or Claudii).

hmm other than a small bonus to morale when fighting barbarians. the juli don't look to be totally focused around combat. if they were they would get a bonus to attack or some other military focused bonus in place of cultural conversion buff.
If anything the Junia are going to see more combat because they have low diplomatic with well.. everyone. ohwell, there are going to be plenty of mods when the game comes out, that's what this forum is about.

True, I guess, but the point is that EVERYTHING that CA have based the Julii around is Gaius Julius Caesar, and his exploits and motivations. Clearly, this man was an outlier and an enigma of sorts, and sure, if this was a mini-campaign, the Julia faction traits would fit, but this is supposed to represent the whole family. I like the Cornelian disdain for the populus trait, but the Julian population DISORDER is so far from the truth. G.J.C. especially was a favourite of the people, and as such should receive positive public order bonuses, not negative. It should be something like:
    - Julia: + Public order bonus / - Senatorial bonus.
    - Cornelia: - Public order bonus / + Senatorial Bonus.
    - Junia: - Public order bonus / + Senatorial Bonus.

Seems to me, if cold hard reality is what we're after, the family name should confer no bonus of any kind(aside from difference in starting cash, etc). If familial succession yielded predictable results, classic monarchy would work long term(it does not, however).

Certainly a valid point. But then there would be no families in the game. The ONLY difference then would be the names of the generals you control.
In the current case though, if you want families, at least get them right, eh?

Why?!? In an other threat you said, that its not historical correct that the Julia get a "-25% public order" bonus... am i right?!? You said something like everyone loved ceaser and that CA has no good historian...

So but when you read closely you will find out, that the -25% public order is only in new conquered regions - only in regions where a FOREIGN CULTURE lives... so in rome and all the other roman settlements everything is fine and everybody loves caeser... donīt know the problem here...

It looks like you saw "-15% public order" and than you started to whine about that... but it isnīt realy true...

based on how CA did these bonuses can you suggest how else we should edit the traits and names?

The way CA did it isn't bad - it will be enjoyable. It's just not that correct, and is certainly not indicative of the whole family. That said, I did suggest a few changes.

Aesthetics are still a thing, right? Perfectly valid reason to choose one family over the other.
I, for one, on release will be playing Cornelii largely on an aesthetic preference. In fact, mechanics-wise I don't like their drawback very much, yet I still choose them.

D'uhhh what? Please tell me you don't think the Cornelia are going to be blue, with wolf heads on their shields

What? No. Nobody knows that. Don't insult my intelligence.
What we can see is the family figure on the selection screen. And I strongly prefer elaborate patrician armour of the Cornelii.

I'm one of the casual majority and I tell you something:
I don't know the difference between the families, so I don't care. Like 90% of target customers of this game.
I know, bad for you historic fanatics. Modding is your only friend, because CA will not make the game you want.
