So, you've decided to 'Take the Cross' and follow the Fourth Crusade? Or perhaps you are a late-comer, and have arrived to join the the Latin Empire?
No matter which, I, the great and wonderful BF, shall show you the way.

This guide is currently a WIP.

I. Understanding How the Game Works

- This current incarnation of "Deus Vult", TWC's Crusader RPG, is set in the Fourth Crusade and the Latin Empire.
- At the start of the game, the players who are present lead the attack on Constantinople in the year 1204, be they clergymen or laymen.
- After Constantinople is taken, the crusaders found the Latin Empire and choose an Emperor, as well as cut up the conquered and to-be-conquered territories amongst themselves.
- From here on out, the game is a 'kingdom' game of counts, dukes, kings, and the Emperor.

- Time passes on a weekly basis, each Friday being the start of a new year.

II. Creating a Character

- Your character can be as highborn or lowborn as you want, but he/she cannot be landed anywhere as they start out.
You also may not represent foreign kingdoms in a powerful way.
IE, if you play a French Prince you cannot inherit anything in France and cannot actually represent military force from France.

- Historically, the Fourth Crusade was filled with Franks, the Flemish, Savoyard Italians, and Venetians.
However, any believable Catholic origin is acceptable for a Crusader.
- Orthodox and/or Greek characters are of course allowed, but the game is difficult for them.

- You may want to team up with other players as members of the same family.
