    Default RTR Mods?

    I have RTW patched to 1.2 with RTR 6.2 installed and am enjoying the mod very much, congatulations to the developers

    I could clean instal again and patch up to 1.5 and instal latest Platinum RTR, my question is would I gain a great deal by doing this?

    Can I also ask is there still any development going into RTR?

    Thanks

    RTR 6.2 is rather outdated. Since then RTR 6.3 and RTR 6 Gold have been released. RTR Platinum is a port of RTR 6 Gold to the engine of RTW v1.5. Read more here:

    For more details on the official RTR 7 that is being developed by the RTR Team look in the sticky section in the main RTR forum.

    Thanks, guess I'll finish my current campaign, then clean install RTW patch to 1.5 and then instal RTR6, correct?

    Don't have BI so wont wait for 1.7, seems to be plenty to do without BI.

    A lot of the improvements I have read about, seem to improve the fighting ability of AI, not sure I'm keen on that idea

    Not exactly. RTR6G only works on the 1.2 engine. If you want to run it off 1.5, you need to use RTRPE.

    And I highly recommend that you upgrade to BI- you will get more challenging game play, more variety with options etc and overall smoother performance. Thats not to say that its perfect- but as soon as you see your first battle screen, you will know what I mean..

    To make it clear:

    1. RTR 6 Gold is for RTW v1.2
    2. RTR Platinum Edition (RTRPE) is for RTW v1.5 and can (optional) be played with BI.exe.
    - RTR Platinum is actually a port of RTR 6 Gold(which as I said was for the engine of RTW v1.2) to the engine of RTW v1.5
    - The current version of RTRPE is v1.6.
    3. the 1.7 mentioned by you is the next version of RTRPE and you will be able to play it with or without Bi as you want. It should be released this week-end if things go well.
    4. RTR 7 (which is currently being developed by the RTR Team) will be for BI.

    Bottom line, the RTRPE and RTR 7 are 2 different projects and the RTR Team and the RTRPE Team are 2 different teams.

    Ok, I've downloaded RTRPE 1.6 exe, my game is 3 CD's 1.0, once I've patched up to 1.5, I then instal the RTRPE 1.6, one question, as its not clear to me, do I have to do this:

    III. Delete your map.rwm file found in:

    * c:\RTW\data\world\maps\base
    * c:\RTW\data\world\maps\campaign\base
    * c:\RTW\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign

    My game folder is:

    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War"

    Thanks.

    See this from my install guide(this is also true for RTRPE v1.6):
    NOTE: Marcus Camillus has created and added to the auto-installer(RTR Platinum v1.5 Patch) a "campaign_map_reset.bat" batch file that will automatically run after the patch install is complete. So, the auto-installer, after it completes installing the files of the patch, will ask if you wish to run the "campaign_map_reset.bat" batch file. If the option box for this is left checked, the batch file will automatically run and delete any map.rwm files in the following places...

    * Data\world\maps\base <<============================= Location for the "map.rwm" file with RTW v1.2 patch.
    * Data\world\maps\campaign\base <<==================== Location of a possible "map.rwm" file.
    * Data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign <<======= Location for the "map.rwm" file with RTW v1.5 patch.

    If however you have installed your patch in a different folder(then the one containing the game) then you will have to manually either look for and delete any occurances of the map.rwm file(as described at step III. of the guide), or manually start the "campaign_map_reset.bat" batch file by double-clicking it.
