Barcids!
Barca! Barca! Barca! Forca!
Barca, of course!
No idea, i have a notion one will be expansionist in general, one for africa and one for economics.
So the general expansionists most likely.
"Rem tene; verba sequentur." - Grasp the subject, the words will follow.
Barcids!! I care not for an expansive empire, I just want to spill Roman blood!![]()
The Barcids
The family of the Barca, the Thunderbolt, has produced many great captains of the Carthaginian states, any famous war-leader on land or at sea likely hails from this family. The strength of the Barcids tends towards the military rather than the political, so no true Barcid would aim for autokrator without a sizeable mercenary force at his command. The Barcids claim descent from vain and feckless Paris of Troy, the youngest son of Priam; family traits tend to be vanity, narcissism and a fine regard for the beautiful and the best things in life.
The Hannonids
The Hannonids make a great, public show of their devotion to the gods - most particularly to Dagon and Tanit. Hannonid children who show promise are sent to train for the priesthood or the navy thus heaping glory on the gods of Carthage (and the family) with holy sacrifice or gold gained through shrewd dealing. The Hannonids have a bitter and long-standing rivalry with the Barcids, who they see as brainless, impious thugs utterly unsuitable for public office. The Barcids, meanwhile, see the Hannonids as even more vicious and scheming than it is entirely seemly for a Carthaginian to appear.

The one with the bonuses that best suit what I decide to aim for in that particular campaign, of course. So, I can't really vote yet, though I have a hunch that it's going to be the Barcids which I end up choosing...
Regarding the families of Rome, I'll definitely pick the Julii for my first Roman campaign. Although the Cornelii's bonuses are the most appealing to me, they can be saved for my second Roman play-through. But in my first campaign, I just want to march north and utterly crush all of the over-hyped germanic tribes - and the Julii should be the perfect choice for putting and keeping the barbarous scum in their proper, subjugated state.
It's pretty hard not to play as the Barcids, to be honest. I voted for them.
Going historically, the Barcids wanted to concentrate on expansion in Spain and an aggressive foreign policy while the Hannonids were more isolationist, wanted to stay in Africa and expand there. According to the Let's Play, the Magonids seem to want to concentrate on Sicily, and other Mediterranean islands. So perhaps we can infer some bonuses from this.
- Barcids: Better generals, conversion bonus to, or better morale fighting against Barbarians (particularly Iberians), huge diplomatic penalty with the Romans to represent Hannibal and his father's intense hatred of Rome, and the blood pact swearing to always be their enemy.
- Hannonids: Less unrest in African provinces, more unrest abroad. Maybe some sort of population/developmental growth bonuses to African cities. Increased income from farms, mines, etc. but less from trade.
- Magonids: Possibly better diplomatic relations with Rome, better naval units, increase bonuses to trade.
Just guesses on my part though.
For the glory of Barca!
Barca! of course...
How does this 3 family feature work exactly ? Like Rome I ? The 3 families are allied 3 factions on the map or just a single faction with special traits or perks if a family is selected to lead the faction ?
Seems like, for both Rome and Carthage, you have 2 faction traits no matter what family you choose. Then you have three specific traits depending on what family you choose. I also believe that choosing one family doesn't clear the other two families from the game. They'll still be involved in the campaign, under your faction, they just aren't entirely controlled by you and will work against you at times.
Barcids but I will give also the others a try.
I don't know who the Magonids are. It doesn't matter anyway because I'm going to pick Barcids right off the bat.
They seem to represent the pro-Magonids which were oppose to the Barcid faction that supported Hamilcar and his sin Hannibal in their endeavours to expand into realms close to Roman sphere of influence, and of course preferred not going to war against Rome. They also preferred expanding into North Africa while the Barcids preferred confrontation with Rome and taking their colonies, including lost lands in Sicily. Practically polar opposites to eachother.

Barca because Hannibal is my favorite ancient general and Neymar is my favorite soccer player.
Yes, soccer. You'll get over it.
