    Default Macroing the Campaign

    Hi all ...

This is an idea feature that will probably never be implemented in total war games, and surely not for Rome II , but the hope is the last to die so here it is my idea for a more continuous and detailed campaign .

Imagine that the campaign could allow macrofocusing ... like when you access a new Macroregion a bigger larger campaign map opens with a much more indetail campaign for that region ..

    In particular :

Northern Europe with Gaul , Britain and Germania

Southern Europe with Italy , balkans and Greece

Egypt with Egypt , Meroe up to Axum

The middle east with Turkey , Palestine , up to Babylon

    The far east

All the regions up to Indus valley

    the Arabia the whole peninsula

    the West

    the northern and Spanish areas

those macroregions woudl be like the main campaign map with a major subdivision of regions and towns ... so the ones that might not get the "sieegeability" option woudl be small towns and not large cities ...

So the map woudl work like that :

1 option for normal campaign and normal gameplay

2 option for the Macrocampaign , that whenever you access a new area can load the macro region , you will always be able to zoom out to the normal campaign map to see what's going onelsewhere .

but macrocampaign woudl also require more turns per year , perobably at least four or even 8 turns per year ...

And have the option to pick the time of starting the campaign and the period ...

Ok I am just dreaming I guess ...

Pretty good idea, very very unlikely to see though.

What he is talking about is a game with a campaign map that expands in scale as you progress. Like, you start with Rome, and have a campaign map that consists of Italy alone, with like 30 provinces. Once you conquer a certain amount, the map zooms out and the scale changes.

This is a cool idea, but would be absolute hell to code and balance. How does it work when you move an army from the zoomed out map into one of the zoomed in areas? Are the units multiplied by 2, 5, 10? A million other thing coudl go wrong or be super complicated.

    Not going to work.

You're talking about putting several expansions into one game.

For example, Medieval 2 total war Kingdoms added new campaigns which did a blown-up version of several sections from the previous game. Each were separate of one or the other.

To have it where you zoom out and then zoom in then what's going on in the other regions at the same time?

Also this takes away the grand scaling that Total War aims for. It's about mass scale, not minor skirmishes.

What you want works more in expansions or DLCs with separate campaigns. Not for the grand campaigns not CA goes for.

@vietanh797, I think the idea that Prometheus presented is different from that of Hegemony which is an entirely different game.
I knơ I mean Hegemony have similar idea about "map expand" even though it is just minimap but it somewhat similar
