    Default Loading screens

Your average PC will show loading screens for a fair amount of time, especially if you prefer to control battles instead of auto-resolving. So what will the ones in Rome II look like? If I had to take a guess, I'd say they will look like the Greco-Roman pottery art on the UI.

The ones in Shogun 2 were pretty nice in my opinion, and they made loading times feel shorter.

I agree, I really loved the Ukiyo-E inspired art for the loading screens of Shogun 2. I doubt Rome II will have similar art though. From the pictures I've seen at the demonstrations in E3 etc, it looks as if they use regular paintings ala Empire or Napoleon Total War. So expect to see art like this for the loading screens:

The more detail the better. Lots of really detailed nice art would be better. Makes waiting for loading times a little less intrusive and boring.

    Nice idea for a thread

Yeah, I think to shorten down the feeling of loading times there does need to be some beautiful artwork being displayed in the background. Shogun 2's was nice but since I do not have any interest in the Sengoku Jidai period, they really didn't do anything for me.

Rome 2 is set for some beautiful art pieces I can just feel it. I hope they show artistic pictures of units in battle, or a Roman about to kill a barb and just generally things like this to set the mood just right. Artwork of European scenery would be amazing too. I sense the loading times to be quite lengthy if Shogun 2 is anything to go on so I really do hope there is some good artwork we can see.
I personally invite you to check out my complete combat overhaul which will give you a completely new Rome 2 experience:

Heheh it shows how big Total War fans we are if we're talking even about the loading screens. I'd really like something inspired from Greek pottery, a bit like the picture here. However it might be not relevant enough for the Roman theme of the game.

They should also bring back some of the favourite RTW quotes, for those who like the nostalgia effect.

My guess artwork style but I love to have overview of the actual battleground prior to battle (maybe topography art style) and generic art style of the period post battle before going back to campaign map.
Good question. If you look at the Youtube videos, you will see the picture shown by Doe3000, although I'm not sure if it was a loading screen or just a wallpaper.

The image I used is wallpaper, although I did see a blurry photograph (either from E3 or Rezzed) of a battle loading screen - and just like Shogun 2 it had a virtual map at the centre, but it looked like it had some artwork images of Roman soldiers fighting barbarians around the edges, similar in style to the one seen in the image I posted of the Roman battleship.

i actually really enjoy the screens from M2TW Kingdoms, the special effects added to the pics were pretty awesome, especially the crusade and teutonic screens

I'd love the original style of loading screens from Rome 1, soldiers in black in a red background. Maybe this would be more fitting for a Barbarian Invasion 2.0 DLC, due to the red and black giving a sense of impending doom?
Nontheless, I loved the old loading screens.

There was one track that played during S2 loading screens, with the drums. Awesome.

Yeah some good music and a few decent quotes and I'll be happy. Thats grabbing a beer/smoke time anyways

As long as they do not use that hideous UI that they created, I will be happy to see what they use. Maybe they will use some renaissance style painting of the era, but I hope for some tradition style paintings.

No signs of loading screens in the recent Let's Play video... Maybe on the next one?

Speaking of loading screens, I was disappointed to see that Rome II will have a 3D menu. I was hoping for a quick load to the title screen, but it looks like it's going to take a while, like Shogun 2.
