Link?!? No?!? Maybe?!?
Where is confirmation?????
Thanks for the link
'I'll be damned ' Marcellus Wallis
So basically he would be dead in 1 Turn. What do we do with 1 Turn sack the crap out of Rome?????
Why? He died in a street fight IIRC, decapitated or something, not from disease or natural causes (although based on his profession, death in battle can also be considered a natural death). So you can protect him and go rape Rome.
However, where was that information confirmed ?
I posted the link in the OP mate. In page 3 of the thread a CA official confirms it.
Sorry for DP
Knocked inconscious by a tile launched at him by an elderly woman and then killed and decapitated by ennemy soldiers in the general streetfight. (At least that's the version i got, there are several of them iirc)
Thanks ! I didn't saw the edit.I posted the link in the OP mate. In page 3 of the thread a CA official confirms it.
Sorry for DP

You didn't get it.
He died in 272, in Argos, got a roof tile on the head (beware of an angry granny). But as it's an historical "accident", the games isn't scripted for him to die that year. That means he won't necessarilly (depend of what you or the AI do with him) die on the first turn.
However, where was that information confirmed ?
Hm so I'm guessing Pyrrhus was a general of Epirus and was legendary like Hannibal or Alexander???![]()

Why all the praise? He failed miserably, was useless at treasury management, kept bouncing around to different places instead of strengthening them, hasty decisions which resulted in his tragic death and in the end his people suffered through death and slavery. Yet he is considered up there with Caesar and Alexander the great.....because.......he defeated the Romans a couple of times? please..... -.-
Because he led what was arguably the most backwards and underpopulated region of Greece against Rome, defeated her in two battles and reached within a few kilometers from Rome. Then, after his return to Greece, he singlehandedly defeated Antigonus Gonatas and conquered Macedonia. Still, strategically he made many mistakes. he should have pushed on against Rome, but he thought his gains were consolidated. He also failed to consolidate his gains in Macedonia, allowing Antigonus Gonatas to recapture it shortly afterwards.
Under the patronage of Emperor Maximinus Thrax
"Steps to be taken in case Russia should be forced out of war considered. Various movements [of ] troops to and from different fronts necessary to meeting possible contingencies discussed. Conference also weighed political, economic, and moral effect both upon Central and Allied powers under most unfavorable aspect from Allied point of view. General conclusions reached were necessity for adoption of purely defensive attitude on all secondary fronts and withdrawing surplus troops for duty on western front. By thus strengthening western front [those attending] believed Allies could hold until American forces arrive in numbers sufficient to gain ascendancy."
~General Pershing, report to Washington, 26 July 1917
While I agree with your initial statement, he is arguably one of the top 5 generals in ancient history. Have you even studied any of the battles this man fought? Epirus is one of the most underrated generals in antiquity. Viewing him strictly as a battlefield tactician he was a genius, no general can claim to have defeated both Rome and Carthage in multiple battles. His problem was lack of focus, and perhaps too much benevolence. If he had been a more focused man I think history would be very different. Rome may have never ended up being the superpower it later did.
I too totally forgot about Epirus until this thread. I may now play him first to learn the campaign a little. Gee, thanks OP!![]()
But if CA do let him live, then Tarentum (or whatever the region is called in R2) should be Epirote.
Quotes for Wikipedia:
"The same year, upon hearing the news of Pyrrhus's death, the Tarentinians surrendered to Rome."
and
"The Romans conquered the city in 272 BC, by treachery of the Greek soldiers, and demolished the defensive walls of the city. Thirty thousand of the Greek inhabitants were sold as slaves and many works of art were carried off to Rome."
