Severe lag on a powerful PC.

I've read the forums about how the game only uses one core, but my PC specs are pretty high. I can't change the resolution higher than 1024x768 or the fps goes to about 8-12fps. Leaving it on 1024x768, I get around 18-20fps with all settings on low or max, it doesn't change.

CPU: i7 3820 - 3.6ghz Sandybridge

GPU: NVIDIA GTX 680, Also have my older GTX 480 as a backup which I tried and still have the same problem

RAM: DDR3 16gb 2400mhz

HDD: 500gb SSD - 280gb free

ASUS Rampage IV Extreme fully updated

Windows 7 64bit Ultimate

Custom Built by me

All drivers are up to date.

I have no problems with any other games, Just RTW

Hmm, maybe if you try running it in Compatibility mod ( Windows XP) and see how it goes. Right mouse click on RTW Shortcut, Properties, Compatibility. Set it to Windows XP, Apply and OK.

good idea, tried it and campaign map is still super laggy, my battles are fine its just the campaign map that just kills the fun

Have you tried enabling the exe for 4GB?

Rome can only take advantage of one core and 2GB of Ram, so a multiple core 16GB RAM monster is actually going to have worse performance than an office computer.

how exactly do you enable the exe for 4gb or even 16gb lol cuz that's what I got

If you want to do it, go for it and don't us if you did or how as modifying the game's .exe is against CA's EULA you agreed to to install the game and this site's Terms of Service under Illegal activities.
