    Default Moral Standards

I read a Readers Digest article talking about the decline of moral standards. They did a test in some big cities around the world to see what city still had the highest moral standards and guess who won. New York!

You should say "christian" moral standards, maybe?
I sin for the good of humankind
"I praise, I do not reproach, [nihilism's] arrival. I believe it is one of the greatest crises, a moment of the deepest self-reflection of humanity. Whether man recovers from it, whether he becomes master of this crisis, is a question of his strength."

Truth is not a law, a democracy, a book or a norm not even a constitution. Nor can it be read in the stars.

hmm so i'm assuming moral standards was at it's perfect state at the beginning of time, then slowly through the progression of time has erroded to what we have today, so if we follow the natural erosion of morality, we humans will have absolutely 0 morals and will be free to murder, rape, etc each other without consequence by the year 2500? give or take a century or two.
If God were a man he'd be me.

At first i simply observed. But i found that without investment in others, life serves no purpose.

Moral standards cannot be surveyed, compared or detailed for the simple reason that everyon has different moral standards and everyone has a different moral code. What moral code did hte digest mag go by? A far right Christian moral code? A liberal moral code? Im guesing the former, as that is what seems to be most refered to as the correct moral stance.

I'm not suprised. Ny has the highest. Everyone says it's bad, but it's not at all. They have there bad areas, but the city is not bad.

There's a general consensus that every nostalgic generation tends to criticize its successors. Children born in the 80s onward (including myself :p) have yet to contribute anything universally meaningful, or make amends for their stereotypically chaotic behavior, but give us time

Well, yeah. Children born in the 80s are at most 26 now; not exactly aged, not exactly long out of university even. As a rag-end 80s product I'm 16, what should I have contributed?

I assume they were using the moral code adhered to by the Korowai of Papua. I mean, what else is there, right? It would explain why New York got the highest rating in the survey; all those deaths to cleanse the family of malignant spirits and all.
