    Sup dawgs

    So I heard that R2TW is gonna have ambient features like wildlife running around in the forest as your army marches through. like that.

    What about civilians? One thing I always found ridiculous in previous TW titles is that in field and siege battles you would never see a single terrified peasant or townsfolk running for cover as your armies collided. That's ratchet, freal. Wouldn't it be epic and swagtacular if you could see civilians and their reactions as your army sacked a city? Or peasants rushing away from the field as two armies thundered in? I just felt TW games never had any ambient presence to represent the day to day folks.

    What do you think? Should they program this in right away? Maybe delay the release for two/three weeks and spend quality time on some detailed civilian models?

    Well in a siege battle you would have civilians being butchers left and right, but in pitch battles, its highly unlikely. The armys drew up anything up to weeks in advance and they took a long time to manoever into position on the day, more than enough time for civlians to be long gone from the battle field.

    Yes but as a Siege... I mean its a siege.. blockading the cities, not all the Civilians would be able to get out of the city, and yea civilians would by dying left and right, thats what happened in real life, plus it could also have an added effect of bringing down the population of a city during a battle

    TBH I don't think it would add that much to immersion or gameplay.

    You would get folk with average / poor gaming computers raging at the waste of resource too.

    Disagree all you want, it doesn't mean they aren't right.

    While it would be a neat feature, I think the detriment to performance as well as the potential media frenzy that could result from graphically sending your army to murder a cities' population wouldn't be worth it.

    "No, I don't like realism!" or as I would say it, no I would prefer the ability to run bigger battles without lag to the possibility of seeing civilians that would serve no purpose other than a scenic one and consume a lot of CPU horsepower.
    But in a future and more optimized TW I would appreciate them.
    Besides I don't sack cities, I merely conquer them, I'll get my money from the taxes its inhabitants will pay for "protection".

    I wonder if CA confirmed we'll have city-view like the original RTW. It's be nice to at least see my city humming and buzzing with activity.

    Oh yeah, CA will look at your poll and say: "hey, we are 2 weeks away from release, call the physical copies back home so we can add this feature the community wants!!!!"
    That's likely to happen...

    If you mentioned a patch instead :S

    As much as I love realism, I can't help but feel nothing is better than retarded civilian characters running headlong into an army, possibly messing up formations. I'll just imagine my troops evacuated the civilians.

    But seriously, if the soldier AI can't even be done correctly, what hope is there that civilian non-combatant AI will do anything other than get in the way?

    I'd also like to have a city view, but assaulting a city gives the civilians plenty of time to hide in these things called buildings before your army romps through and makes the streets run red with blood. Now, you could say you want to see your soldiers kicking down doors and dragging out screaming women by thier hair before decapitating them, but I'd rather that do all that AFTER I've won.
