    Wat?

Do you mean that because they haven't said there will be a preload, nobody can play on the third?

    Or have they confirmed?

    Wat?

The 3rd is a Tuesday for me I think so I will probably end up waiting for the weekend. Doesn't matter too much, I'm patient.

TotalWarker, read your comments on most threads and somehow they annoy me most of all times.
Sorry. I think the OP intention was that anyone that bought a boxed version may play the game (and they paid far less for the same product) while, if there would be no preload option the servers of Steam would be assumingly that busy literally no one can play it on release day due slow download speed.

I don't think the game has been confirmed to have "gone gold" yet (correct me if I'm wrong), so preload is not going to happen at least for now, since the game is still in development.

Thanks for the reminder. I think the OP intention was more about that whether they do not offer preload at all. In fact they do not release any information about it. I still hope it preload will happen. They are not silly and know their business

My english is not the best either, so I'd better shup up correcting other ones but I think he was about to say "there is still no confirmation if there will be a preload option" which gives the thread a complete different sense.

I thought three was a thread on this yesterday or something, in which someone confirmed there would be a pre-load option, as steam do it for most of there games?

Given that the game hasn't even gone Gold yet, it's a little early to be worrying about if there will be a Steam pre-load. That wouldn't normally happen until a week at the earliest before release, and even then, it's not guaranteed when you order through Steam. If you bought digitally, there may or may not be a pre-load you can unlock. If you ordered online, then it's a question of if the retailer you purchased from will dispatch your copy so it arrives on release day (which is also not guaranteed when you buy in most cases and even then is subject to local post services). CA have no control over that, and I'm not sure how much control they have over the pre-load option.

The only way you can guarantee playing the game on release day is to get your ass off your chair, go to a physical store and buy a copy which you can then take home and install.

TBH its the 1st game i bought on steam, so i take any rumor about steam seriously.
Someone in the forum said that Rome II will not have Preload option... cant put my finger to where i saw it , and 30giga of game..
+ lets hope steam got super servers to provide full speed of download(afcourse to all ppl downloading to).
As i am from the middle east its like 5 hours above UK time, in short i am just hope 1.4MB per second will be enough to download in 8 hours
so when i return from work i can play , All about the steam servers.

I usually get up to 10MB/s on my 100Mbit connection. On 3/9 it will probably be slower than that, though.

That's the opposite of what he said:

Doesn't that translate to "people with boxed version will wait a day or more"?
Which makes sense btw because if Sept 3rd is the release date, that's probably when the boxes will be sent away (if preordered).

while, if there would be no preload option the servers of Steam would be assumingly that busy literally no one can play it on release day due slow download speed.
But people with boxed sets will still need to at least register with Steam, and most probably download a significant amount of patch data.

I understand TotalWarker's confusion about the OP.
Not least because with a good connection, it's very probable you'll get your download done in time to play on the third. I doubt RTWs release will have that huge an impact on Steam servers.

    good points!
But regarding the impact on server I can trustfully say: there will be, as there was even an impact on the Shogun 2 release, even though Rome 2 is 2 GB less big.

most people will hardly notice it, steam probably has some of the biggest serverparks in the world.. only way youre going to notice it is when you have really fast internet and it doesnt reach your cap.. and rome 2 is considerably bigger than shogun 2.. shogun 2 with all the content + darthmod is not even 24 gigz.. but you dont have to download all of that per se.. most stuff will be zips that get extracted anyway
