    Default Some Campaign fun.

So i really wanted to play a campaign with these units so i'm making a half-assed, cut and paste "WHAT IF..." campaign game. I call it Napoleonic total time warp. ...because i'm a nerd. :tooth:

NOTE: I am not attempting to make some kind of sub-mod. This is just my own pet project. just wanted to share some fun pics.

I just wet my pants, that French Carabinier charging and looking up at that elephant. :tooth: Picture of the month

Damn, our maps and units are so much nicer compared to vanilla RTW, I allmost forgot....

Jesus it looks like the Romans fought on Mars! Or possibly the moon.

Big ups to Lord Fishbone, who did a lot to make our environment look so fab

How do the battles turn out? The statistics are changed, so do your troops completely own, or is it hard (once they manage to close in on melee)?

Well, in that round Napoleon handed Cesar’s butt to him. But I had the experience level bumped up pretty high on the Nap. troops. I'd say over all you are at a slight disadvantage because the troops don't last long in melee. However RTW troops are scared of musket fire. So as long as you can keep troops in reserve continually firing on them they will break too. Howitzers are especially useful and nasty in this warfare. I might either change the moral on the nap troops of just up the damage of the muskets, or just make the artillery more deadly. Any one of those should balance things out nicely. The nice part is this doesn’t interfere with the original NTWII. I still can play (and lose) MP games. =P

I admit, that not only looks funny as hell, but like for a few battles it would be a good time

    LOL! :-)
This could be subject for ahistoric research mate!!! The question of the centuries who would win Napoleon or Cesar?
    Who won BTW?

No joke in reality only cannisters power make me thing that French would win 100% sure... if no canisters would be there I would wonder about which outcome would such battle have.

Napoleon. Remember that for a time Caeser was fighting snotty little locals, where Napoleon was crushing professional armies around Europe.

    yeah....

but still I doubt that the French would live if Ceasars elite legionairs could get close to them in melee , I mean how's a bojonet gonna stand against a full armor with shield and men who were used to fight like that... :hmmm:

^ agree. That’s pretty much how the battles are turning out too. If I let them close in on me and it turns into an all out melee fest I'm screwed. But if I skirmish just right then I can keep fire on them long enough to break them. Turns out they don't like being shot at... . Again howitzers can really turn the tide.

Yes the battles are a good time. What’s really fun is on the campaign map taking these units on a romp around ancient Europe.

well Napoleonic armies often consisted of 100.000s of men, including thousands of cavalry. Roman era armies could be very happy if they had 50.000 men of which a few thousand cavalry.

I'd love to see the romans try testudo against artillery and musket fire thougt

A Napoleonic army would CRUSH a roman army. The fear alone of the firepower would do most of the work. There is no comparing armies are seperated by 1500 years.

This is quite possibly the most hilarious thing I've run into since the 2004 U.S. presidential election when Bush responded to a Kerry verbal jab by saying, "I know what's going on over in Iraq. I see it on TV."

    GREECE

They say: "Let there be no more war!"
    And straightway, at the word,
    Along the Mediterranean shore,
The call to arms is heard.

Greece could not let her glory fade!
    Although peace be in sight,
The race the Persian wars arrayed
Must fight one more good fight.

    Greece! Rise triumphant. Long ago
It was you proved to men,
A few may countless hosts o'erthrow:
    Now prove it once again!

sure. I don't want to redistribute the Lordz work without their permission though. again, I'm not alterating anything in NTWII. It just changes RTW.

hm I'm not sure. Spreading this may lead to confusing and MP compatibility problems. I'll talk to the other Lordz, but for now keep this private.

sure I understand. Just for your consideration: i havn't run into any problems playing NTWII MP and it leaves the NTWII folder completely untouched.
