Non Steam hard copy available?

So Rome 2 comes out during the same month the "slow" season starts at my work and Ill be spending numerous hours with a laptop playing Rome 2 total war. First I need a laptop around 600-700 buks that can handle the game on MEDIUM settings... I know i wouldnt be able to get one for that price on HIGH settings.... but then I will be spending a good amount of time playing the game OFFLINE in single player mode. I have a PC at home that I hope to do online coop with my friends on mega ultra ect.. however for work the medium single player is what i need. I hate steam, simply because you have to be online to verify your info in order to go into offline mode. Thats it... Otherwise its a great system... if they just fixed their offline mode. So many times with my older laptop have i went to play some steam games i downloaded it tells me that i need to go online to verify my info and im stuck all night with a laptop full of games i purchased... most of which have no multiplayer modes of any sort, and I cant play them.... I fear Ill be spending a good amount of cash only to get stuck with the same problem.... oh New laptop, new game... good grand spent... and steam tells me to off, you need an internet connection in order to log on to the offline mode.... So, I humbly ask if there is a way to buy a stand alone version?!?!? STEAM ILL BUY 2 COPIES OF THE GAME IF MULTIPLAYER MUST BE THROUGH YOU!!! however, just let me play my game without the net, please! like back when I was a youngin and most of my games were offline anyways...

You don't have to be online to go into offline mode. I think once every few weeks it needs to verify, but then you are golden.

You only need to go online the first time to verify the game. My laptop have not been online for more than a year and I can still play Shogun 2 offline with it.

You'll need to be online initially to verify the game, but then you can switch to offline mode and wont need to reverify or anything ever again.
